While it remains to be seen what kind of impact the Republican National Committee\u2019s first-ever midterm convention may have on the elections, a near-term clear focus has been put on the chief executive\u2019s promise of $5,000 dividend checks. Sunday, the president reiterated his intent to follow through, with explanations on means, timing, and why the results at the ballot box are integral to remedy the public \u201ctreated so badly by the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n

The promise made Wednesday night in Dallas, Texas, has been raised a number of times since, including Sunday on the tarmac outside Air Force One as he departed Shannon, Ireland.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn the $5,000 check,\u201d asked a reporter, \u201cwhen did you first come up with that idea and how exactly are you gonna pay for that?\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump responded, \u201cA while ago. And that\u2019s going forward, the $5,000 checks are going forward. And that\u2019s because we\u2019re taking in so much money in so different ways \u2014 including the tariffs.\u201d<\/p>\n

In regard to the follow-up question on how the costs would be covered, the president once again<\/a> referred to previous measures of the One Big Beautiful Bill and checks for military service members.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, yeah, no, I know exactly how we\u2019re gonna pay. You know, it\u2019s interesting on that because everybody said that the great big beautiful bill will never happen. It happened. They said that the 1776 for the military \u2014 $1,776 \u2014 would never happen. And it happened. They were paid,\u201d reminded Trump. \u201cThe 5,000 is gonna happen 100%, and the reason is because our country is taking in trillions and trillions of dollars. And it\u2019s gonna happen because the people deserve it because they were treated so badly by the Democrats and by [former President Joe] Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was then that a question on the delay was presented, as a reporter asked why the administration would hold off writing checks and only go forward with the plan based on Republican success in the midterm elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause \u2014 I don\u2019t want to do it now because if the Democrats go to get in, our country will be in shambles and they won\u2019t be able to do it,\u201d reminded the president, as Democrats have not only essentially blocked or obstructed him at every step of the way, but also vowed to undo his efforts to negotiate an American advantage in foreign trade. \u201cIf we get in, we\u2019re taking in tremendous amounts of money. We\u2019re taking in over $20 trillion in terms of investments. And, if the Democrats \u2014 all of that money will be thrown out. If the Democrats get in, they won\u2019t be able to pay it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before moving on to the next question, Trump added, \u201cWith me, I\u2019ve always made money. Now I make a lot of money for the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
