According to Punchbowl News<\/em><\/a>, Republicans are preparing for his return but the lawmaker\u2019s \u201cfinal plans aren\u2019t yet clear.\u201d<\/p>\n

The prolonged absence and lack of any clear answers surrounding McConnell\u2019s health gave birth to many conspiracy theories, with some going so far as to suggest that the lawmaker had passed away. Even a photograph wasn\u2019t enough proof of life for those who had questions.<\/p>\n

\u201cMcConnell has been out since mid-June when EMS radio traffic indicated he was unconscious at his D.C. home. McConnell spokesperson David Popp said in a statement at the time that the 84-year-old had been hospitalized,\u201d\u00a0Punchbowl<\/em> noted. \u201cMcConnell\u2019s staff provided no clarity on his condition or prognosis for weeks, fueling speculation about his condition. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat, publicly pressed McConnell to provide more clarity or resign.\u201d<\/p>\n
