A 62-year-old Texas man who was friends with numerous Fox News hosts was stabbed to death and nearly beheaded by a repeat black offender on Monday.<\/p>\n

Andrew James Wimsatt, a 62-year-old engineer, was brutally stabbed to death only moments after he sat down on a park bench after visiting his mother at a nearby nursing home in Round Rock.<\/p>\n

Surveillance footage reviewed by the Williamson County Sheriff\u2019s Office showed the suspect, 26-year-old Benedict Ogbodiegwu, approaching Wimsatt from behind and repeatedly stabbing him in the neck with a knife, causing the victim to fall\/collapse to the ground, upon which time the attack continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cOgbodiegwu then put his knee on the victim\u2019s chest and started sawing the knife across Wimsatt\u2019s neck\u201d in an attempt to behead him, according to the Austin American-Statesman<\/a>. When that failed, he fled the scene.<\/p>\n

Wimsatt was found dead near the park bench after a witness called 911. Ogbodiegwu and the knife he\u2019d used in the attack were found in a nearby home. He was taken into custody on a murder charge.<\/p>\n

Records indicate that Ogbodiegwu is a repeat offender.<\/p>\n

\u201cOgbodiegwu has a criminal record in Williamson County going back to at least 2017, when he was charged with stealing,\u201d according to Fox News<\/a>. \u201cHe had two prior arrests this year, on charges involving theft and carrying fake identification.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wimsatt was a beloved figure known to a number of Fox News personalities, including Greg Gutfeld.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was one of the sweetest most helpful persons I\u2019ve ever met,\u201d Gutfeld tweeted<\/a> about Wimsatt on Thursday. \u201cSupremely gentle. Willing to do just about anything for another person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he was stabbed to death on a street at 11 am in the morning,\u201d the Fox News host added. \u201cFor no reason other than a maniac was free to roam the streets. Rest in peace Andrew. We won\u2019t forget you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News host Kat Timpf also paid tribute to him:<\/p>\n

\u201cAndrew was a fan who became a friend,\u201d she tweeted. \u201cAndrew was a rare person: Genuinely kind just for the sake of it; it quite clearly never occurred to him to expect anything in return.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI am haunted and horrified thinking of his final moments, and beyond furious that this was the end the world gave him, the same world that he\u2019d always gone out of his way to make a better place,\u201d she added. \u201cWe all love you Andrew, and we always will. Your kindness made you a legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, during Friday\u2019s edition of Fox News\u2019 \u201cThe Five,\u201d which Gutfeld co-hosts, he slammed the media for completely ignoring Wimsatt\u2019s murder to instead focus on a bunch of fake lynchings of black men and women who committed suicide.<\/p>\n

As of Saturday morning, not a single mainstream media outlet had covered Wimsatt\u2019s murder except for Fox News.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe crime, to me, is so heinous and shocking that I\u2019m still trying to comprehend it,\u201d Gutfeld told Fox News in separate remarks. \u201cI may never.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that he was suspicious of Wimsatt when the show \u201cGutfeld!\u201d first launched and Wimsatt came out as a huge fan of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first, I was suspicious, because I always assume people do things because they want things,\u201d he said. \u201cI was wrong with Andrew. He did stuff for people \u2014 lots of people \u2014 because he enjoyed being of service, and promoting stuff that he genuinely enjoys and believes in.\u201d<\/p>\n
