{"id":666762,"date":"2026-09-11T14:35:55","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T14:35:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=666762"},"modified":"2026-09-11T14:35:55","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T14:35:55","slug":"trump-says-he-doesnt-think-hell-need-congressional-approval-for-5000-dividends-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=666762","title":{"rendered":"Trump says he doesn\u2019t think he\u2019ll need Congressional approval for $5,000 dividends"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/americanwirenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/sg-trump-cbs-1200x630.jpg\" class=\"attachment-facebook size-facebook wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/div>\n<p>President Donald Trump turned the political world on its head Wednesday when he vowed to send every American adult a $5,000 check if Republicans maintain control of the U.S. House and Senate after the midterm elections, arguing that America is making so much money\u201d as a result of \u201ctremendous economic success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000,\u201d the president told the crowd at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas. \u201cIt will be called the Trump dividend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the national debt topping $40 trillion, the immediate question, from the right and left, is where would the money come from and would Congress need to approve the payout.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was asked about the latter issue while sitting down with CBS News and replied, \u201cI think not. I think they will do it if we needed it. But we think not. The country is doing so well, we have taken in trillions of dollars in tariffs and other things. We have now over $20T worth of manufacturing plants and other investments being made in the U.S., which is far greater than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd we think it\u2019s something that\u2019ll be good. We do have one proviso, and that\u2019s that the money be spent\u2026 people spend their money in the United States,\u201d he added. \u201cWe don\u2019t want to have that money spent in other countries. We think it\u2019s something that\u2019s really good, popular and it\u2019s a great infusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As might be expected, there was no shortage of naysayers.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Riedl, a budget and tax fellow at the Brookings Institution, told the New York Post that the proposal was \u201cirrational and dangerous,\u201d insisting the country cannot afford the estimated $1.2 trillion cost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in a dangerous arms race where Republicans and Democrats compete to run up budget deficits by bribing voters with spending hikes and tax cuts that the country can\u2019t afford,\u201d Riedl said, adding, \u201cThe only way to stop the deficit arms race is for the bond market to essentially cut off the federal government\u2019s borrowing ability, and that may be already starting right now with rising interest rates.
