You see it in the commodity markets.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2026-09-10_14-49-49.png?itok=OjXfE2xz\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2026-09-10_14-49-49.png?itok=OjXfE2xz\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"be9c46cd-9b7d-43d0-ae0b-20d4f4e56b4d\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"281\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/2026-09-10_14-49-49.png?itok=OjXfE2xz\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Asked whether the latest flare-up in the Gulf conflict\u00a0explained the jump in Brent crude this week,\u00a0Currie pointed first to demand returning from Asia (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/commodities\/chinese-oil-demand-unexpectedly-soars-sending-shanghai-crude-above-100-brent-prices-set\">read here)<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Actually, I put a bigger weight on China coming back to the market,&#8221; he said, citing strong buying interest after returning from Singapore and Hong Kong.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>China had contributed to the refined-product squeeze by reducing refinery operations and exports as access to crude tightened earlier this summer,\u00a0Currie explained. But exceptionally high diesel margins created a massive\u00a0incentive to restart those those refineries,\u00a0bringing renewed crude demand into an already strained market.<\/p>\n<p>He cited diesel crack spreads of <strong>$110 a barrel<\/strong>, exceeding the price of crude itself. That figure refers to the refining spread, rather than the outright diesel price.<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_30b7bba.png?itok=LkhM4gYK\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/Snag_30b7bba.png?itok=LkhM4gYK\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"b0dadd25-84a4-4c4b-990c-561cf4002123\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"268\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/Snag_30b7bba.png?itok=LkhM4gYK\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;That&#8217;s a pretty big profit,&#8221; Currie said. &#8220;They start chasing it, brought those refineries back online, and it was just like an earthquake going through here.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The rally in Brent is showing signs of\u00a0greater staying power, he pointed out,\u00a0with equities and longer-dated oil prices beginning to reflect a more persistent disruption.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;People are starting to go, &#8216;This is not transient,'&#8221;
