An illegal alien who was deported years ago but returned afterward has now been charged in the vehicular death of a 23-year-old Ohio man.<\/p>\n

Illegal alien Alvaro Uribe Gonzalez, 33, was driving east on Sunday while impaired and without a valid driver\u2019s license when his 2016 GMC Terrain \u201ctraveled off the right side of the road,\u201d according to The Scioto Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGonzalez then overcorrected, causing the SUV to cross the roadway, overturn and enter the westbound lanes,\u201d the Ohio outlet reported. \u201cThe GMC Terrain struck a westbound 2025 Chevrolet Trax before catching fire.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inside the Chevrolet Trax were 23-year-old Cameron Lyon and his fianc\u00e9e, 23-year-old Abrielle Kerns. Lyon was taken to a hospital where he later died due to critical injuries. His fianc\u00e9e remains in intensive care, \u201cfighting to recover,\u201d according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol statement reviewed by Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He just started his first teaching job.
\nJust got engaged.
\nJust moved into the family farmhouse with the girl he was going to marry.<\/p>\n

Cameron Lyon was 23.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez has since been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence of alcohol, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. He\u2019s currently being held without bond.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for Gonzalez due to his status as an illegal alien.<\/p>\n

\u201cCameron had his whole life ahead of him, and that life was stolen by this criminal who never should have been in our country in the first place,\u201d Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cICE has lodged a detainer asking officials in Ohio to cooperate with us and not release him from jail, so that we can remove him from this country,\u201d he added. \u201cDeporting illegal aliens is our duty because it saves lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Gonzalez illegally entered the U.S. in January 2020, was deported several months later, but then returned \u201cat an unknown date and location.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Lyon, he\u2019d just proposed to Kerns over the summer and also started a new job as a teacher.<\/p>\n

\u201cLyon\u2019s mother said he had just proposed to his fianc\u00e9e during a family trip to Rhode Island in July and the two of them were renovating the family\u2019s farmhouse together,\u201d according to Columbus station WBNS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just graduated from Otterbein University and had begun a job teaching social studies to middle schoolers at the Crestline Exempted Village School District,\u201d the station\u2019s reporting continued.<\/p>\n

His death piqued the attention of Sen. Jon Husted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am outraged to learn of another Ohioan who lost their life,\u201d the senator said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m praying for their family as they mourn this loss and for a full recovery of the passenger in the vehicle. This is the third death of an Ohioan by an illegal immigrant driver on our roads in 10 days. I\u2019m actively working on ways to prevent these tragedies and keep Ohioans safe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lyon\u2019s death also caught the attention of Republican Ohio gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy:<\/p>\n
