Britain&#8217;s 3rd Largest Taxpayer Escapes To Greece"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">The Exodus Continues&#8230; Britain&#8217;s 3rd Largest Taxpayer Escapes To Greece<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><strong>Britain\u2019s highest taxpayers have been drifting offshore since the non-dom regime was scrapped in April 2025 <\/strong>and inheritance tax was extended to worldwide assets.<\/p>\n<p>This shift is already visible on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/money\/tax\/article\/uk-100-biggest-taxpayers-2026-tax-list-nqsjk2bvn\">Sunday Times lists<\/a>: six of the 2026 Tax List\u2019s top 100 (including Revolut\u2019s Nik Storonsky) had left in the previous year, the compiler noted that <strong>one in nine names on that list were no longer UK-resident<\/strong>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/sunday-times-rich-list\">companion Rich List<\/a> dropped dozens of foreign billionaires while recording a <strong>sharp rise in British nationals now based in Dubai, Switzerland and Monaco<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But, the latest news is likely the most disturbing to the increasingly socialist government as the UK&#8217;s 3rd largest taxpayer &#8211; <strong>hedge fund founder\u00a0Chris Rokos<\/strong> &#8211; is set to leave.<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/1200x857_0.jpg?itok=S1oaLCm5\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/1200x857_0.jpg?itok=S1oaLCm5\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"3deadfac-783c-475e-97e1-30f807d85ea2\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"357\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/1200x857_0.jpg?itok=S1oaLCm5\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The <strong>star trader paid a stunning\u00a0\u00a3330 million ($447 million) in taxes<\/strong> last year&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2026-09-07_09-09-33.jpg?itok=8XLjpFfK\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2026-09-07_09-09-33.jpg?itok=8XLjpFfK\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"e6091c6f-a82f-44c2-89f0-bb12db3e929a\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"352\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/2026-09-07_09-09-33.jpg?itok=8XLjpFfK\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s one hell of a hole for Burnham and his buddies to fill.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-09-07\/hedge-fund-titan-rokos-joins-ranks-of-billionaires-quitting-uk\">As Bloomberg reports<\/a>,\u00a0Rokos is the latest in a string of high-profile financiers and business leaders that have opted to leave.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Since winning the general election in 2024, Labour has targeted wealth with taxes<\/strong> on non-domiciled residents, inheritance on family farms and businesses, private equity and private school fees.<\/p>\n<p>At her last budget, former chancellor Rachel Reeves introduced a tax on homes worth more than \u00a32 million.<\/p>\n<p><strong>With a net worth of about $4 billion<\/strong> according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Rokos is among the UK\u2019s most prominent figures in finance.<\/p>\n<p>The Rokos Capital Management founder is <strong>switching his residency to Greece<\/strong>, people with knowledge of the arrangement said.<\/p>\n<p>Rokos will also <strong>open an office in Athens<\/strong> as part of the move, one of the people said, asking not to be identified because the details are private.<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20-%202026-09-07T092922.458.jpg?itok=E5Lx3xy-\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/image%20-%202026-09-07T092922.458.jpg?itok=E5Lx3xy-\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"1341de29-c9ae-4e60-afb8-a9b49e188ae1\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"336\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/image%20-%202026-09-07T092922.458.jpg?itok=E5Lx3xy-\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Greece offers a 15-year high-net-worth investor regime.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Italy operates a similar 15-year system, but after recent increases, it has set the flat tax at \u20ac300,000 on foreign-sourced income.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greece has also sought to lure fund managers and private equity executives,<\/strong> adopting new tax rules this summer designed to prevent double taxation.<\/p>\n<p>If the highest taxpayers keep leaving &#8211;
