He will be taking his leave on October 2, an announcement made with great sorrow by his colleague who had nothing but good things to say about his work.<\/p>\n

Financial cable television fixture Rick Santelli announced today that he is retiring from CNBC after 27 years.<\/p>\n

Santelli is the highly informed and highly frenetic presence on the Chicago trading floor explaining bond yields, Fed decisions and economic reports.<\/p>\n

His reaction to Obama\u2019s mortgage relief plan shot him straight into the headlines and prompted a national movement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is America. How many of you people want to pay for your neighbor\u2019s mortgage, that has an extra mortgage and can\u2019t pay their bills? Raise their hand,\u201d he shouted on the Chicago trading floor, to boos from the surrounding traders. \u201cPresident Obama, are you listening?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow about we all stop paying our mortgage? It\u2019s a moral hazard,\u201d one of the other traders chimed in.<\/p>\n

Santelli suggested a \u201cChicago Tea Party\u201d in retaliation, but when the clip went viral, protests popped up around the country as Americans rejected how their tax dollars were being used.<\/p>\n
