X owner Elon Musk is pushing transportation into the future with Tesla\u2019s latest innovation: the Cybercab.<\/p>\n

Transportation costs are skyrocketing, but Musk\u2019s latest idea may provide a more reasonable alternative to the crowding of public transportation and the expense of rideshares. The Tesla website<\/a> describes the \u201crobotaxi\u201d as an \u201cautonomous vehicle\u201d that is \u201cchanging the way people travel by making transportation more efficient, affordable and accessible than ever before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHail your car and use it for errands, commuting and more. Designed for full autonomy without a steering wheel or pedals. Features bench-style seating suitable for up to two passengers and a center touchscreen, plus enough trunk space for luggage, golf clubs, scooters and more,\u201d the Cybercab description explains.<\/p>\n

Need more room? The Model Y and Robovan can seat 4 or more passengers and those with accessibility needs, with the same amenities as the standard model.<\/p>\n

\u201cAutonomous Robotaxi rides are currently being offered across the U.S. in Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando and Tampa,\u201d the website boasts.<\/p>\n

Those who have already taken rides in the Cybercab have good things to say:<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve now done a total of 3 hours riding around in @Tesla<\/a>\u2019s Cybercab and spent a total of $92.51. That travel time would have cost me $200 with Ubers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do think pickup and drop-off locations could use some tweaking (same for Model Y) as you need to walk a bit sometimes, but I think that will get better as V15 progresses. Two things you surprisingly get used to very quickly are having no rearview mirror and no side mirrors. For anyone else trying Cybercab for the first time, I encourage you to recline your seat all the way back and just close your eyes for a minute. Realizing that you can nap in the spot where a driver traditionally sat while the car drives you around with no steering wheel or pedals is a pretty surreal feeling,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n
