Failed 2024 Democratic presidential nominee stand-in Kamala Harris had a somewhat surprising take when asked about Democratic candidates rejecting her help for the midterm elections in November.<\/p>\n

MS NOW\u2019s Peter Alexander asked Harris to respond to a report that red state Democrats want nothing to do with her.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolitico reports that you are wading into some of the midterms and that red state, not blue or purple state, but red state Democrats in states that Donald Trump won are encouraging you to stay away for fear it could impact their races there,\u201d Alexander said, easing the blow as much as he could. \u201cYour response to some of that reporting?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cListen, Peter, we need to win, OK? Bottom line, we need to win. I have run locally, I\u2019ve run for statewide office and, obviously, nationally. And these candidates know what they need to do to win, and I would expect nothing less,\u201d Harris replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to being on the trail and helping folks where I can help them, but we have got to put a check on this lawless administration and deliver what Americans need and deserve \u2014 lower costs, affordable healthcare, affordable childcare, you name it,\u201d she continued. \u201cSo, I support them in doing whatever they need to do to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris says she \u201cexpected nothing less\u201d when asked about Democrats not wanting to campaign with her.<\/p>\n

Even if that means dodging any ties to her \u2014 which some Democrats are apparently doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIowa\u2019s two most prominent Democratic candidates have said they do not want Harris to campaign for them. Alaska\u2019s Democratic Senate nominee rejected a fundraising solicitation Harris sent on her behalf. And a swing-district Democrat in Wisconsin and a long-shot Senate hopeful in Kansas both told Politico they would prefer Harris keep her distance,\u201d Politico reported.<\/p>\n

Harris was asked about running in 2028, and she replied, \u201cI\u2019m focused on \u201926,\u201d before adding that 2028 \u201cdoesn\u2019t matter if we don\u2019t win\u201d in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a sad state of affairs when the former vice president is asked to remain off of the campaign trail because so many Democrats believe her record and unpopularity will hurt their chances in their own races. Harris\u2019 answer was extremely weak and awkward considering she is now publicly both toying with the idea of running for president again and being rejected by members of her own party,\u201d former RNC national spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko said, according to Fox News.<\/p>\n
