Eric Swalwell\u2019s lawyer is demanding an investigation following a report that U.S. Air Marshals were spying on the disgraced ex-congressman during an international flight.<\/p>\n

Swalwell was reportedly tracked as he boarded a flight on August 8th in Frankfurt, Germany, to Washington, D.C., by an Air Marshal who was tasked with trying to obtain Swalwell\u2019s passcodes, according to a report by \u201cThe Atlantic.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOn August 8, former Representative Eric Swalwell boarded a United Airlines flight from Frankfurt, Germany, to Washington, D.C. He didn\u2019t know it, but federal agents were watching him throughout the nine-hour trip,\u201d Shane Harris wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FBI had asked the Federal Air Marshal Service to covertly monitor Swalwell on board and to watch him use his electronic devices, to see whether its officers could visually ascertain his passcodes, according to records I obtained that have not previously been reported on,\u201d the article continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cAir marshals are trained to blend in with other passengers and quietly keep tabs on their subjects, who are usually suspected terrorists or potential hijackers, not politicians.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swalwell\u2019s phone and laptop were seized by the FBI under a warrant at San Francisco International Airport one week later on August 15th.<\/p>\n

Swalwell\u2019s celebrity attorney, Sara Azari, is crying foul over the report and demanding an investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecent reporting that a federal air marshal was deployed to watch him enter his phone\u2019s passcode during an international flight is an extraordinary escalation of that pattern,\u201d Azari said, according to the New York Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been in contact with the Department of Justice throughout this investigation and have always cooperated,\u201d Azari continued on Wednesday. \u201cNot once were we asked for Mr. Swalwell\u2019s phones or devices. Had the DOJ asked, we would have complied, as we have with every other request.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrand jury secrecy and the Department\u2019s own policies exist precisely to prevent an uncharged citizen from being tried in the press by anonymous government sources,\u201d Azari said. \u201cWe have asked for and expect an investigation into the source of these leaks and disclosures.\u201d<\/p>\n
