{"id":662194,"date":"2026-09-03T02:35:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T02:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=662194"},"modified":"2026-09-03T02:35:00","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T02:35:00","slug":"qatar-and-uae-turn-to-rare-lng-ship-transfers-as-hormuz-crisis-drags-on-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=662194","title":{"rendered":"Qatar And UAE Turn To Rare LNG Ship Transfers As Hormuz Crisis Drags On"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Qatar And UAE Turn To Rare LNG Ship Transfers As Hormuz Crisis Drags On<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><em>By Tsvetana Paraskova of <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Qatar-and-UAE-Turn-to-Rare-LNG-Ship-Transfers-as-Hormuz-Crisis-Drags-On.html\">OilPrice.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Three LNG carriers loaded from Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in the Persian Gulf have transferred their cargoes onto other vessels outside the Strait of Hormuz in the past month, a move that\u2019s highly unusual for LNG cargoes but one that could raise the crippled LNG shipments from the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2026-09-02_h4f2igrzy3.jpg?itok=5PbAi-1w\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2026-09-02_h4f2igrzy3.jpg?itok=5PbAi-1w\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"633973d2-d6f2-4ae3-8f22-5ed5e4596893\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"209\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/2026-09-02_h4f2igrzy3.jpg?itok=5PbAi-1w\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>LNG traffic at the Strait of Hormuz nevertheless remains at a standstill, even though oil flows are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Hormuz-Shipping-Slumps-Even-as-Gulf-Oil-Flows-Rise.html\">estimated to have rebounded<\/a> in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>However, unlike crude oil, it\u2019s much more difficult to shuttle-ship LNG through Hormuz and then reload it via a ship-to-ship (STS) transfer as Persian Gulf producers, including Qatar, have been doing in recent months to ship oil to customers.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The UAE and Qatar appear to have done this with three LNG cargoes in August, Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/qatari-uae-lng-cargoes-transferred-via-ship-to-ship-outside-strait-hormuz-2026-09-02\/\">reported<\/a> on Wednesday, citing vessel-tracking data from Vortexa and Kpler.<\/p>\n<p>The three LNG carriers in question include Greek-owned GasLog Shanghai, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Greek-LNG-Ship-Safely-Clears-Hormuz-After-Maritime-Incident.html\">involved in an \u201cincident\u201d<\/a> in the Strait of Hormuz at the end of July, and transferred its cargo onto GasLog Savannah offshore Oman outside the Strait in late August.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar-owned Al Rekayyat, hit by a projectile near the Strait of Hormuz in early July, also conducted an STS transfer with Qatar-owned tanker Tembek in mid-August, according to the data compiled by Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>The cargo on the Tembek was delivered to India on August 31.<\/p>\n<p>ADNOC\u2019s Mraweh LNG carrier also made an STS onto LNG Enugu outside the Strait offshore Oman in the middle of August, and is en route to deliver the cargo to Japan, according to the data.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The lack of meaningful recovery of LNG flows from the Persian Gulf and Qatar\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Qatar-Extends-Force-Majeure-as-Hormuz-Crisis-Still-Blocks-LNG-Traffic.html\">extended force majeure<\/a> on deliveries combined with the U.S.-Iran re-escalation to hike Asia\u2019s spot LNG prices <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Asia-Spot-LNG-Prices-Hit-5-Month-High-as-Hormuz-Blockage-Drags-On.html\">to a five-month high<\/a> <\/strong>and Europe\u2019s benchmark natural gas prices to a three-and-a-half-year high this week.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>      <span class=\"field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden\"><a title=\"View user profile.\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/users\/tyler-durden\" lang=\"\" class=\"username\" xml:lang=\"\">Tyler Durden<\/a><\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden\">Wed, 09\/02\/2026 &#8211;
