Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed bragged about President Donald Trump\u2019s criticism of him during a campaign event.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, he claimed that the president calling him out will just give him a \u201cbigger platform\u201d to share his ideas should he win his race. El-Sayed believes that he has effectively become the \u201cmain character of the midterms\u201d because of the backlash he has received from the White House, including Vice President JD Vance.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump is messing around and making me the front page or the main character of the midterms. You know what that comes with? That comes with, if I win, I now have a gigantic platform that they just gave me. And that allows me then to both move a conversation but also maneuver inside because I can move a conversation across. And I\u2019m hoping my job is to be able to take that, advocate, and then be able to come together and sit down with colleagues who are on the ground to think about how to solve problems,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The president hasn\u2019t been shy about his feelings for El-Sayed, encouraging voters to cast their ballots for his Republican opponent, Mike Rogers on August 5,<\/p>\n
