Col. Michael Schrama pushed a trial date until June 2028 and scrapped Khalid Sheikh Mohammed\u2019s FBI confession.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, a Fox News report dredged up a 2023 essay penned by the military judge titled, \u201cCreating a Codified Legal Response to Domestic Extremism in the Ranks,\u201d wherein he contended \u201cconservative tendencies\u201d afforded an avenue for growth of \u201cextreme right-wing groups\u201d in the military.<\/p>\n<p>Published by War on the Rocks, Schrama\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/warontherocks.com\/creating-a-codified-legal-response-to-domestic-extremism-in-the-ranks\/\">essay<\/a> argued for a military legal code provision to address \u201crising population of military members engaging in extremist activities\u201d as he insisted,\u00a0\u201cAs an active-duty Air Force military judge, I have seen firsthand a rising population of military members engaging in extremist activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is more than ample evidence that military members are a ripe population for extremist recruitment and that the rise of domestic extremism in the military ranks is a threat to national security,\u201d added the judge who highlighted a 2021 Center for Strategic &amp; International Studies study that argued 17.6% of domestic terrorism plot and attacks stemmed from military personnel.<\/p>\n<p>He also pointed to analysis that\u00a0asserted roughly one in eight people charged in connection to the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6, 2021 had a military background.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the United States Criminal Code and the Uniform Code of Military Justice do not currently provide the tools to deal with this crisis, as they do not treat domestic extremism as a specific criminal offense,\u201d wrote Schrama. \u201cCodifying domestic extremism as a punitive article under the military code would provide a means for commanders to adequately address the rising tide of domestic extremism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, within his 45-page ruling on Mohammed, the judge argued that the 2007 confession made while at Guant\u00e1namo Bay was made involuntarily, citing CIA conditioning and torture. \u201cThe prosecution has failed to prove by a preponderance of the evidence that Mr. Mohammad\u2019s statements to the F.B.I. were voluntarily given.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Judge tosses 9\/11 mastermind KSM\u2019s confession after trial date set, cites \u2018severe coercion\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mdJmeDqq1P\">https:\/\/t.co\/mdJmeDqq1P<\/a> via <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BIZPACReview?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@BIZPACReview<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BPR (@BIZPACReview) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BIZPACReview\/status\/2093675720132231270?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>During the same time period from which Schrama cites concerns over \u201cconservative tendencies,\u201d it\u2019s worth noting that then-Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was pushing a woke agenda in the military in the wake of Jan. 6. According to details sent to then-Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe (R) by then-Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizpacreview.com\/2022\/02\/15\/republicans-alarmed-over-reported-6-million-man-hours-devoted-to-leftist-social-agenda-in-bidens-dod-1201248\/\">5.3 million hours were spent on conversations about extremism<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In response, the Republican members of the Senate Armed Services Committee wrote, \u201cWe face real threats across the world, yet the Biden Administration is more focused on promoting its leftist social agenda in the military instead of countering China, Russia, and Iran or creating an effective counterterrorism plan.
