More than a decade after a fierce rivalry, the Lone Star State lawmaker and President Donald Trump have proven that primary politics can be left in the past. Ahead of its premiere, clips of a sit down with Hannity found Cruz candidly remarking how he would have felt about a nomination to the high court while also complementing the chief executive\u2019s \u201ccast iron balls.\u201d<\/p>\n

In one clip from the \u201cHang Out with Sean Hannity\u201d podcast, the host began of Trump, \u201cWhen he goes hard in the paint, I mean, he will bludgeon opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe doesn\u2019t have a medium speed,\u201d began the senator\u2019s response before he expressed, \u201cMy favorite attribute about Donald Trump is the guy has cast iron balls. He just does, at a level that there\u2019s no parallel in history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lamenting some of the tangents the president takes, the lawmaker added,\u00a0\u201cLook, at times, I would urge, you know, a little more discipline and focus. Like, focus on the task, but the fearlessness, the energy, that is phenomenal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Timed to coincide with the release of Cruz\u2019s new book, \u201cGoing Further: The Incomparable Clarence Thomas,\u201d the interview also addressed the potential of the onetime clerk of then-Chief Justice William Rehnquist to have his own spot on the bench.<\/p>\n

Between that experience and tenure as solicitor general of Texas arguing before the court, the senator said of his views of the daily experience of a justice, \u201cIt is a very solitary lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite enjoying reading and writing, Cruz told Hannity, \u201cI like people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI like being in the fight with people,\u201d he went on before addressing a negative outlook if Trump had chosen him for one of the three nomination opportunities from the first administration. \u201cI think if the president had nominated me to the court, I would have been confirmed, and the image that I kept hearing was the day after I was confirmed, walking into my chambers, and the door closing, and the sound I kept hearing was a jail cell clanging shut.\u201d<\/p>\n
