Vice President JD Vance tore into \u201cevil\u201d Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed during a campaign rally Monday in Sterling Heights.<\/p>\n

\u201cI realize that there\u2019s something about Abdul El-Sayed that is very, very evil and on the rise in the United States of America today,\u201d he bluntly said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s people who see themselves not as citizens of a common nation fighting for every single person \u2014 whether they\u2019re Jewish or Christian, whether they\u2019re white or black or brown \u2014 but see themselves as fighting for one group at the expense of others. And that is how, ladies and gentlemen, you destroy the United States of America,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The fierce attack came in response to El-Sayed habitually hobnobbing and empathizing with genuinely evil people.<\/p>\n

For example, he previously campaigned alongside Hasan Piker, a hatemonger who\u2019s said that he hates America and that the United States \u201cdeserved\u201d the deadly Sept. 11 terror attacks.<\/p>\n

In addition, after a violent attack on a Jewish synagogue and school, El-Sayed expressed empathy for the attacker, saying in a video posted to social media that \u201churt people hurt people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing his remarks on Monday, the vice president brought up El-Sayed\u2019s association with Piker.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I see Abdul El-Sayed campaign around the state with somebody who said that America deserved 9\/11, what I see is a man who has sympathy and compassion for people who share his religion but have nothing for people who don\u2019t,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I see] a person who will apologize for a murderer so long as he looks the right way but will not understand the plight of an innocent child if that person has their own faith. And that is the root of this terrible evil, I believe, in the United States of America that is on the rise,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Vance also came after El-Sayed for talking about his wife<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, the last thing I\u2019ll say about Abdul \u2014 Mr. El-Sayed \u2014 is he has a weird habit of talking about my family,\u201d the vice president noted. \u201cHave you noticed this? You know, look, I don\u2019t know who his wife is. I\u2019m sure she\u2019s a lovely person. But I would never come to this state and disrespect you, or disrespect somebody\u2019s family, by talking about another person\u2019s wife \u2014 a person who isn\u2019t on the ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd yet, Abdul El-Sayed, every time they put a microphone in front of his face, he wants to talk about my wife or my grandfather. You know, my message to Abdul El-Sayed \u2026 is you can pal around with terrorist sympathizers, and you can say that America deserves 9\/11, or you can empathize not with the children who were targeted at Temple Israel, but with the attacker. These are all despicable things, but they\u2019re all things that the people of Michigan will judge you on based on your record,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He concluded by telling El-Sayed to \u201ckeep my wife\u2019s name the hell out of your mouth, because she\u2019s way out of your league.\u201d<\/p>\n

El-Sayed fired back during a CNN interview later that evening with his typical class warfare rhetoric.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, let me tell you what\u2019s evil,\u201d he said. \u201cEvil is the idea of starting wars when there\u2019s peace. Evil is the idea of stripping away people\u2019s healthcare when they absolutely have no other option. What\u2019s evil is to do that, so that you can pass a tax cut for billionaires.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s evil is putting a data center that people don\u2019t want in their backyard, to spite them. What\u2019s evil is corrupting yourself because you want a little bit more power,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
