Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel believes that her party\u2019s rush to embrace far-left critics of Israel will not benefit them.<\/p>\n

Democrats have said very little about the skyrocketing popularity of DSA candidates within their party, some of whom embrace anti-Israel sentiments, and it is rubbing the party\u2019s Jewish members the wrong way. Nessel joined\u00a0The Atlantic<\/em>\u2018s David Frum to warn against accepting the hateful rhetoric aimed at her people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a fundamental mistake for the Democratic Party to think that you can just push Jewish Democrats out and simply replace them with any other population,\u201d she explained. You know, we have been such uh an instrumental part of this party, whether you\u2019re talking about our activism, whether you\u2019re talking about our legal work, whether you\u2019re talking about the contributions and donations that have been made to the Democratic Party. And the fact that we have very progressive ideals that we\u2019ve worked hard on. And whether you\u2019re looking all the way back to, whether it\u2019s, you know, women\u2019s suffrage, whether it\u2019s the fight for rights for African-Americans in this country, whether it\u2019s work that I did and many other Jews on LGBTQ rights issues, you know, we have been an essential part of the fabric of the Democratic Party for a very, very long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also pointed out that complaints from Jewish people are not taken as seriously by the party as those from other minority groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a Black person says that a phrase that you\u2019re using or the way you\u2019re talking about this issue to me is racist, I\u2019d like you to stop doing it \u2014 we respect that,\u201d she stated. \u201cThis has been an outlier to me. I have people saying, \u2018You are not going to tell us what you deem to be antisemitic. We\u2019ll decide what\u2019s antisemitic. That\u2019s not up for you, the Jewish population, to decide.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, it\u2019s not as if Nessel will be switching sides or advising her Jewish peers to give the GOP a shot any time soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like we\u2019re already not wanted in the Republican Party. Um, and I think that this is, you know, essentially a party of fascism. And we know about all the excuses that they make on the far right and how they embrace the Nick Fuentes and Candace Owens and all the people, and Tucker Carlsons, all of the, you know, enormous anti-semites on the far right.\u201d<\/p>\n
