Rep. Ro Khanna, D-California, is trying really hard to get a former lawmaker on board to help the Democratic Party\u2019s midterm chances.<\/p>\n

The progressive congressman joined CNN\u2019s Dana Bash, where the two discussed the upcoming elections. At one point during a response, he called Rep. Jasmine Crockett \u201cbrilliant\u201d and an \u201cextraordinary asset\u201d despite her lack of desire to endorse James Talarico.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a great chance after almost a generation to win that state [Texas]. I have a great relationship with Jasmine Crockett, she is brilliant, from the Oversight Committee, that\u2019s why I endorsed her, but she is an extraordinary asset and we need her on the team,\u201d Khanna said.<\/p>\n

This came after she said her<\/a> efforts would be on \u201ccampaigning down ballot\u201d rather than boosting the man who dashed her chances of joining the Senate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen the turnout that you can produce. Talarico might very well need that magnetism. Will you campaign with him?\u201d asked CNN\u2019s Laura Coates.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will be campaigning down ballot,\u201d Crockett said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause when we\u2019re looking at a state like Texas, we\u2019ve tried this, where we\u2019ve got one amazing candidate that\u2019s running at the top of the ticket,\u201d she explained, when asked why that would be her main focus. She specifically mentioned Beto O\u2019Rourke as someone who was \u201craising all the money, doing all the things, running around the entire state, but it\u2019s not enough\u201d to flip Texas blue.<\/p>\n

Minutes later, Bash asked if a potential presidential run from the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, would impact Khanna\u2019s decision to seek office himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would have no bearing on my decision,\u201d he stated. \u201cObviously she\u2019s extraordinary, but my vision is an economic vision. One-third of the nation\u2019s wealth is in my district. $20T, we have five companies over a trillion dollars in my district.\u201d<\/p>\n

He wants to create an economy that he believes will work for everyone, not just the big tech companies and other corporations under a vision he calls \u201ceconomic patriotism.\u201d<\/p>\n
