A newly published funding document revealed the Department of Homeland Security\u2019s intent to spend seven figures on incorporating a different kind of \u201cdog\u201d to uphold national sovereignty.<\/p>\n

Last week, globalists found themselves with a new reason to be up in arms when U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) authorized nearly $17 million for shock gloves. Now the federal law enforcement operation appears ready to add more tech to its arsenal courtesy of Boston Dynamics and its dog-like robot, Spot.<\/p>\n

According to details<\/a> published via the Acquisition Planning Forecast System, DHS estimates between $1 million and $2 million for a contract with the company to assist operations.<\/p>\n

The description for the acquisition forecast reads in part, ICE \u201chas a requirement to purchase Boston Dynamics SPOT Robots and accessories support public safety and law enforcement operations by providing a remotely operated robotic capability for inspection, situational awareness, and hazard assessment in environments that may pose risks to personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis capability helps improve officer safety, supports informed operational decision-making, and enhances DHS\u2019s ability to respond to incidents involving dangerous, confined, unstable, or difficult-to-access areas,\u201d added DHS, as an official confirmed<\/a> to NBC News the robots won\u2019t be used for arrests.<\/p>\n

As it happens, law enforcement agencies in the United States have already begun implementing robots. Both Los Angeles and New York City have done so for use in hostage situations and to investigate bomb threats, among other uses.<\/p>\n

A general ethics statement from Boston Dynamics specifies, \u201cWe will not authorize nor partner with those who wish to use our robots as weapons or autonomous targeting systems. If our products are being used for harm, we will take appropriate measures to mitigate that misuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Similarly, the company maintains its robots won\u2019t be used to violate \u201cprivacy and civil rights laws.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe serving government customers tasked with preserving safety and security is in alignment with our mission as long as that work remains consistent with our terms of use, which prohibit weaponization, targeting and violation of privacy and civil rights laws,\u201d the statement further expressed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, as competition to corner the market on new technologies has seen exponential advancements in artificial intelligence and massive pushes toward expanding the footprint of data centers, last month the Federal Communications Commission took action against the import of certain Chinese robots<\/a>.<\/p>\n

FCC Chair Brendan Carr stated, \u201cFollowing President [Donald] Trump\u2019s leadership, the FCC will continue to do our part to secure America\u2019s critical supply chains and, with today\u2019s action, the FCC is acting in lock step with our national security agencies to do just that,\u201d barring foreign-produced advanced robotics and power inverters from being imported to the U.S.<\/p>\n

Despite the use in blue cities, leftists are likely to raise a fuss about ICE\u2019s use of robots after melting down over plans to use \u201cconductive distraction and de-escalation devices,\u201d otherwise described as electric gloves<\/a>.<\/p>\n
