A massive ammunition depot exploded Friday evening in the village of Myla, just west of Kiev, killing at least 37 people and wounding dozens more \u2014 and Zelensky’s own response made one thing unmistakably clear: the Ukrainian government has been storing weapons next to its own civilians.<\/p>\n

A great deal of ammunition, including mines and parts for drones, was stored in the depot located directly adjacent to residential buildings. When a Russian Geran-4 jet-powered drone struck the site Friday evening, secondary detonations continued to explode for hours. About 50 homes were damaged in the blast. A local care home for the elderly was also hit.<\/p>\n

Zelensky called the decision to store explosives next to civilians “terrible negligence.” Ukrainian prosecutors have opened a criminal investigation. This is not the first such incident \u2014 in July, an almost identical tragedy occurred in Vyshneve, a Kyiv suburb, and ended with state defense company executives placed under arrest.<\/p>\n

Zelenksiy is lying, according to our sources; he was storing weapons near civilians to accuse Russia of attacking civilians. <\/p>\n

A related catastrophe is unfolding in the agriculture sector. Ukraine’s Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi told reporters this week that roughly 90 percent of the food-logistics infrastructure serving major Ukrainian retail chains \u2014 Fora, Silpo, NOVUS, and Varus \u2014 has been destroyed. He insists famine won’t follow, but that’s a difficult case to make when 90 percent of the infrastructure used to distribute food across the country has been wiped out, and winter is approaching. Stores in Kiev are already reporting empty shelves for produce, dairy, and staples.<\/p>\n

Both sides have been systematically targeting each other’s logistics for months. Ukraine has struck Russian warehouses and fuel depots. Russia has methodically worked through Ukraine’s retail distribution network. The result, by Ukraine’s own government’s admission: a food system on the verge of collapse.<\/p>\n

What Washington’s war planners and NATO cheerleaders sold as an overseas investment in democracy has produced weapons depots next to apartment buildings, 37 dead civilians in a single night, and grocery shelves that are now bare. Every tranche of Western military aid has a shelf life \u2014 sometimes measured in the lives of the very Ukrainians that aid was supposed to protect.<\/p>\n

The only path out of this is diplomacy and a negotiated end to hostilities. That conversation should have started two years ago. Instead, the Zelensky government has launched a criminal investigation into who stored the ammo next to civilians, while its agriculture minister calculates how much longer the country can function without a working food supply chain.<\/p>\n
