Leaders from around the world, representing nearly half of the global population, are traveling to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan to attend the 25th anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). With Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in attendance, it is an event that the globalist establishment in Washington can no longer afford to ignore as peripheral to their interests.<\/p>\n

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are scheduled to arrive in Bishkek on August 31 to attend the 25th anniversary summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), to be held on August 31-September 1. The gathering will be attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.<\/p>\n

The Putin-Xi meeting will be the most important bilateral at the SCO summit, where both sides are expected to continue talks on the Power of Siberia 2 natural gas pipeline project to pump Russian gas through Mongolia to China. Kremlin’s spokesman Yuri Ushakov in his comments to South China Morning Post said that both parties would discuss the issue on the sidelines of the SCO summit as well as in a bilateral meeting. Completion of the project would ensure Russo-Chinese energy interdependence for decades to come. This would make Western sanctions on Russian energy exports meaningless.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Putin will hold a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, just days after CIA Director John Ratcliffe made a rare trip to Moscow. Foreign policy observers are noting the coincidence of this trip with the SCO summit, and speculating that Washington may be trying to determine the extent to which Moscow can influence Tehran as a six-month conflict with Iran enters a new phase.<\/p>\n

The SCO comprises Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, Belarus and the Central Asian states. The 15 dialogue partners of the SCO include Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states including Qatar. The SCO charter is clear that it is “not directed against other states” and does not seek to exclude any countries. However, it has increasingly become a forum through which countries are seeking to establish alternative economic and security structures outside of the US and the West.<\/p>\n

But, so far, both Moscow and Beijing are ignoring Washington’s demands not to supply Tehran with arms during the ongoing conflict. Meanwhile, the US sanctions supposedly aimed at isolating Russia and Iran have hastened the very multipolarity the US is trying to prevent.<\/p>\n

Coinciding with the SCO Summit in Bishkek, the Eastern Economic Forum is due to kick off in Vladivostok on September 1-4. A two-week interval has become the regular time-frame between delegations’ visits to Russia in recent years. It’s the very space that, contrary to Washington’s expectations, is getting progressively filled with representatives of the global community.<\/p>\n
