A woman who chose to vandalize the WWII Memorial for attention has been indicted, according to Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

Melissa Farris is facing counts of destruction of a veterans\u2019 memorial and destruction of government property after she allegedly used red spray paint to write the words \u201cClean Hands. Dirty Money\u201d on the Washington D.C., memorial. The Kentucky woman also reportedly poured pink paint and bubble bath into the fountain, and officials claim the clean-up costs for this stunt have already exceeded $1000.<\/p>\n

On August 14th, Farris went live on Facebook to reveal that she was turning herself in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s me. I am going to turn myself in. I\u2019m outside district federal court. I am just trying to do the right thing. \u2026 I was trying to get people to listen. \u2026 I tried to reach the media. I tried to fight back. I tried to ignore it,\u201d she said, adding that she lives in a camper that she \u201cboarded up with cardboard in the winter to feel a little bit warmer.\u201d<\/p>\n

U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro issued a statement following the Friday indictment.<\/p>\n

\u201cVandalizing our World War II Memorial is a despicable attack on a sacred monument honoring the Americans who fought and died for our freedom,\u201d she said. \u201cThose Americans include my father and grandfather.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also pointed out that the charges carry penalties of up to a decade in prison.<\/p>\n
