New Jersey Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver lost her appeal after a federal grand jury charged her with interfering with law enforcement operations.<\/p>\n

McIver was seen on video assaulting an ICE officer as a mob was attempting to storm an ICE facility on May 9th, 2025.<\/p>\n

\n

Congresswoman Lamonica McIver clashed with federal ICE agents at ICE facility Delaney Hall.<\/p>\n

She thought she wouldn\u2019t get into trouble because she\u2019s a Black, leftist Congresswoman.<\/p>\n

Well, she was wrong.<\/p>\n

A court has just decided that charges against her can proceed.<\/p>\n

In June, a federal grand jury delivered a three-count indictment against McIver for allegedly forcibly assaulting, impeding, intimidating, and interfering with ICE and Homeland Security Investigators. The Democrat Rep. tried to appeal the charges by claiming legislative immunity, but on Wednesday a federal court tossed that too.<\/p>\n

Law professor Jonathon Turley wasn\u2019t surprised:<\/p>\n

As predicted, Rep. LaMonica McIver, D-N.J. has lost her appeal to toss out charges at the detention facility on legislative immunity grounds. The Third Circuit held \u201cLike the acts charged in Count One, the acts of pushing past and forcibly striking someone are unambiguously\u2026<\/p>\n

McIver faces 8 years in prison plus fines for each of Counts 1 & 2 and up to 1 year for Count 3, simple assault. That\u2019s a combined statutory maximum of 17 years, not including fines.<\/p>\n

Plenty of X users were happy to see the courts work as they should:<\/p>\n

Lefties being lefties. LaMonica tries to use the race and politician shield to immunize her from prosecution for assault. While she may be used to the immunities her race and vocation typically allow for, she is finally used those up.<\/p>\n

Too bad McIver couldn\u2019t think that far ahead and anticipate her actions would end up opening up a legal barrel of whoop-ass up one side and down the other.<\/p>\n

Maybe next time, voters will think twice before re-electing her to public office.<\/p>\n
