The South China Morning Post<\/a> shared horrifying security-camera footage circulating online that appeared to show people fleeing as a giant wall of water, mud, and debris crashed through a checkpoint on the China-Nepal border.<\/p>\n

SCMP cited Chinese state media outlets that said the flash flood struck the border area around 0900 local time before spilling into Gyirong County in Tibet, causing what authorities described as “major casualties and missing persons” at the border checkpoint.<\/p>\n

In Nepal, 384 tourists and travelers were missing after the landslide, including 93 Nepalese and 291 foreigners, according to the Nepal Tourism Board.<\/em><\/p>\n

The board said the missing foreigners included citizens from India, Australia, the United States, Britain, and the Netherlands. The nationalities of 111 individuals had yet to be confirmed.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
