House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is facing the wrath of the far left over a reported secret meeting with Jared Kushner.<\/p>\n

On Sunday,\u00a0The New York Times<\/em><\/a> published a report claiming the pair had met in New York, where they \u201cdiscussed potential areas of common ground.\u201d The authors of the piece noted that the \u201ctiming underscored that those around Mr. Trump were well aware of the likelihood of a Democratic-led House, and trying to foster as much of a working relationship as possible before any change.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe private get-together was described by one of the people as a catch-up for Mr. Kushner and Mr. Jeffries,\u201d the article reads. \u201cThe two men have stayed in touch since they worked together on a criminal justice bill midway through Mr. Trump\u2019s first term. During the recent meeting, the pair discussed housing, immigration and the high cost of living as potential areas of common ground. Mr. Kushner suggested that Mr. Jeffries should meet with the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, two people with knowledge of the meeting said.\u201d<\/p>\n

While this would be considered normal, cordial behavior at any other point in history, progressives are treating it as a betrayal.<\/p>\n
