A semblance of sanity paired with \u201cthirst traps\u201d found Joe Rogan begging for explanations and accountability from New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D).<\/p>\n

During the latest episode of \u201cThe Joe Rogan Experience,\u201d a conversation with podcaster Chris Williamson abruptly turned to the congresswoman. When Rogan was asked about her \u201cpivot,\u201d insisting \u201cWoke 1 was crazy,\u201d the host insisted such a thought process be fleshed out in walking back \u201cdefund the police\u201d for those who hadn\u2019t aligned with the Marxist ideology.<\/p>\n

After quipping about the influencer content \u2014 including Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s egg-freezing chronicles \u2014 being \u201chot,\u201d Rogan seriously addressed the change in tune as being akin to testing the direction of the wind with your finger.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 makes me think that you\u2019re willing to change your opinions based on public reaction. I don\u2019t like that,\u201d he told Williamson. \u201c\u2018Cause if you really thought \u2018defund the police,\u2019 and then you just ascribed it to \u2018woke 1 was crazy,\u2019 well how did it get you? \u2018Cause it didn\u2019t get me. How did it get you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGive me your thoughts,\u201d he continued. \u201cHow far out did you track the consequences of defunding the police? \u2018Cause I immediately went to: you\u2019re gonna have more crime \u2019cause no one is gonna be able to stop the crime; we\u2019re gonna be f*cked, it\u2019s gonna get scary and then you\u2019re going to want more police; and saying \u2018defund the police\u2019 is just gonna make more police and more control and more totalitarian government.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLike, what did you think \u2018defund the police\u2019 meant? Everyone is gonna, like, eat mushrooms and we\u2019re all gonna be like flower children?\u201d added the host.<\/p>\n

Unlike Rogan\u2019s demonstration of a desire to push back and grill the congresswoman on the supposed logic train, ABC\u2019s Jonathan Karl laughed along with the \u201cWoke 1 was crazy\u201d line before shifting to Republican attacks against communist ideology after Ocasio-Cortez folded the \u201cdefund the police\u201d positions into \u201cfruitful\u201d dialogues.<\/p>\n

As primary elections showed leftist voters picking increasingly radical nominees for the general election, Rogan suggested honesty would get the Democrats out of the absurd big tent they\u2019d cornered themselves into.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want us to take you seriously, you have to say how you f*cked up,\u201d he told his guest who called for authenticity and evident embarrassment over past choices rather than apparent political calculus, \u201cand that you went with the hive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further along in the conversation, Williamson posited the hypothetical if Ocasio-Cortez would still be suggesting \u201cWoke 1 was crazy\u201d if then-Vice President Kamala Harris had won the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n

To that, Rogan called out Elon Musk\u2019s purchase of Twitter as having near-equal impact, \u201cbecause before that, you could get silenced,\u201d which led many to self-censor over fears about losing their livelihoods. \u201cThat\u2019s where Woke 1.0 died. That\u2019s where it really died.\u201d<\/p>\n
