While Anthony Fauci\u2019s name may have dropped out of headlines for the time being, the scandal continues to grow.<\/p>\n

A Biden-era top health official is in the hot seat as the House Oversight Committee questions why the diary and cellphone belonging to Fauci hadn\u2019t been turned over to Congress until 2026. California gubernatorial hopeful Xavier Becerra, who served as Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary under former President Joe Biden, was reportedly asked by House Republicans in 2023 to turn over any Fauci-related records with the words \u00a0\u201cCOVID-19,\u201d \u201cgain-of-function,\u201d and \u201cWuhan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chairman James Comer, R-Kentucky, pointed this out in a letter on Monday, claiming Becerra was either negligent or purposefully withholding the documents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese terms, among others outlined in the document request, appear throughout Dr. Fauci\u2019s diary. Despite the existence of this clearly relevant and responsive information, you failed to include any portion of Dr. Fauci\u2019s diary in your response, let alone even acknowledge its existence,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThe Committee is concerned that you either intentionally withheld this information, or that you failed to conduct an adequate search of the Department\u2019s systems as requested in the November 2, 2023, letter.\u201d<\/p>\n

It took current HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. turning over the diary and cellphone to Senators Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, and Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, earlier in the year for the information to finally be made available to taxpayers.<\/p>\n

Over 1000 pages of the former NIAID director\u2019s private thoughts became available overnight, and critics claim that it shows a gloating, braggadocious man living his best life while Americans were jailed, fined, and kept from spending precious time with their dying family members. The stark contrast in joy between the people making the rules and those who have to follow them enraged many, especially those whose COVID-era thoughts and opinions have been validated as the \u201cexperts\u201d look back on the extensive damage done by lockdowns, including keeping children out of school.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe CDC was responsible for those kinds of guidelines to schools, not me,\u201d Fauci told the Oversight Committee\u2019s pandemic subcommittee in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cMultiple diary entries suggest Fauci at least\u00a0discussed school closures with political leaders. For example, one 2020 excerpt has the doctor saying he \u2018convinced\u2019 then-New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio \u2018based on what I was saying publicly and my conversation tonight to close the NYC schools,’\u201d Fox News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rather than answer the questions during a July Senate hearing under the protection of his blanket pardon from Biden, Fauci opted to invoke his Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination.<\/p>\n
