Former Vice President Kamala Harris has long spoken about the importance of being surrounded by other black or minority Americans. But her new $8.5 million home is located in an exclusive Malibu neighborhood where the population is overwhelmingly white.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, purchased a 4,000-square-foot mansion in Point Dume, one of Malibu\u2019s most exclusive coastal enclaves. Point Dume\u2019s population is approximately 94% white and just 0.2% black<\/strong>, according to a\u00a0Fox News<\/a>\u00a0report citing the U.S. Census Bureau\u2019s 2019 American Community Survey.<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris just dropped $8.15 million on a mansion in one of California’s Whitest neighborhoods \u2014 a census tract that is 94% White and just 0.2% Black.<\/p>\n

As Fox News noted, Harris\u2019 choice of neighborhood contrasts with remarks she made during her 2019 presidential campaign about attending a Historically Black College or University.<\/p>\n

The twice-failed presidential candidate said in an interview with the\u00a0Washington Post<\/em><\/a>\u00a0that attending Howard University \u201cbecomes about you understanding that there is a whole world of people who are like you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris added, \u201cIt was more, for me, about the numerosity than it was the diversity, I grew up in a community where there were many representations of diversity. Going to Howard, there were so many (Black people)! And they\u2019re all in your age group, in your phase of life.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Point Dume has long been known as one of Southern California\u2019s most exclusive communities.<\/p>\n

Politico\u00a0described<\/a>\u00a0the neighborhood earlier this year as \u201ca secluded idyll,\u201d noting its surveillance cameras and that \u201cthe quiet feels carefully curated.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0New York Post<\/em>\u00a0likewise\u00a0described<\/a>\u00a0Point Dume as \u201cone of Malibu\u2019s most exclusive coastal enclaves.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

She will enjoy a \u201ccliff-side retreat with sweeping ocean views,\u201d the outlet noted.<\/p>\n
