Reality-denying coaches opted for self-humiliation over courage as questions on men in women\u2019s sports resulted in \u201canother banner moment for the WNBA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has claimed the spotlight in her league simply by standing up for common sense where it concerns protecting girls- and women\u2019s-only spaces. Now, as the rainbow mob descended on games to harangue the basketballer for protecting her peers and the future for athletes, her own coach kowtowed to questions asserting she\u2019s not \u201ceducated enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friday, after the Fever defeated the hometown Portland Fire at the Moda Center 112-98, coach Stephanie White was asked about her stance on men \u2014 described as \u201cathletes testing biological male\u201d \u2014 playing in women\u2019s sports. To that, she responded, \u201cI don\u2019t know that I would say I\u2019m educated enough from a scientific standpoint. I don\u2019t ever believe that exclusion is the answer. I just don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n

She reiterated the then-Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson \u201cnot a biologist\u201d-style answer while proceeding to say, \u201cI know, growing up I played with the boys all the time. There weren\u2019t girls\u2019 sports,\u201d before agreeing, \u201cThere is a frustration\u201d in having to address the topic.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Fire coach Alex Sarama was asked about the subject, prompting him to contend, \u201cI\u2019m completely supportive of people from all communities and all walks of life.\u201d<\/p>\n

As each video accumulated hundreds of thousands of views, reactions began pouring in decrying the lunacy of employees of the league failing to recognize its very existence was predicated on a specific set of exclusions, hence the \u201cW\u201d in WNBA.<\/p>\n

Likewise reacting to both videos, OutKick founder Clay Travis said, \u201cThe only reason the WNBA exists is because men are excluded. No women should play basketball at all on any post-adolescent level if leagues were unisex,\u201d \u201cThese people are batsh*t insane,\u201d and, \u201cI can\u2019t believe these answers are real. It\u2019s like these coaches are filming hostage videos for terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines chimed in among others, \u201cCool. So does she think Olympians shouldn\u2019t be excluded from Paralympics? 18 year olds shouldn\u2019t be excluded from 12u? Heavyweights shouldn\u2019t be excluded from featherweights? Categories exist solely to exclude.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not to mention anyone who plays in the wnba knows the vast majority of people are excluded based on ability. Only .8% of college basketball players will play in the wnba. The league is premised on exclusion.<\/p>\n

As it happened, the questioning comes in the wake of the suspension<\/a> of Seattle Storm co-owner Celeste Keaton after she reportedly cursed out two teen girls supporting Cunningham by wearing XX-XY t-shirts and holding a sign that read \u201cThank you, Sophie, for speaking up for girls!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fever player reacted in part, \u201cBravo to those girls for standing up for what they believe. You\u2019ll be hearing from me soon \u2026 yay for gifts. Truly embarrassing of the co-owner. Unfortunately shows the type of leader she is.\u201d<\/p>\n

For holding to her common sense beliefs, Cunningham was rewarded with heckling at Friday\u2019s game while the Alaska Airlines-sponsored Companion Cam took the opportunity to highlight what appeared to be lesbians kissing along with other fans waving the multicolored banners of gender ideology.<\/p>\n
