The \u201cexplosive diarrhea\u201d outbreak \u2013 caused by a quickly spreading cyclospora parasite infection \u2013 seems to be growing every single day. Even worse, the state and federal healthcare bureaucracies seem to have no answers to this outbreak.<\/p>\n

Writing in his Substack, Dr. McCullough notes:<\/a><\/p>\n

The CDC has 12,000 employees and a $9 billion budget. The USDA and FDA are supposed to inspect imported produce. None of them caught this <\/em>before people got sick. None of them got ahead of it after people got sick either.<\/em><\/p>\n

McCullough\u2019s phrase \u2014<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>\u201cparalysis by analysis\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 captures the core problem. These agencies excel at holding meetings and issuing press releases days after the damage is done. What they don\u2019t do is protect Americans in real time.<\/em><\/p>\n

When McCullough is asked to tackle the question of whether or not Americans should stop eating lettuce \u2013 or other potentially infected produce \u2013 he responds with, \u201cno, but you should stop trusting the system to protect you.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. McCullough does offer up some specifics on what people can do to stay healthy:<\/p>\n

Wash produce thoroughly<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 but understand that with leafy greens that absorb water, washing has limits.<\/em><\/p>\n

Have treatment on hand.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>McCullough emphasized that the combination of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim\/<\/em>Septra<\/em>) shuts this down in about a week instead of a month of misery. Without it, you\u2019re at the mercy of an overburdened healthcare system that\u2019s perpetually behind the curve.<\/em><\/p>\n

Optimize your immune system.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>A robust immune system can handle a low-dose exposure that floors someone with a junk-food diet.
