President Donald Trump praised Senator Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, despite previous bad blood between the pair.<\/p>\n

Trump took to Truth Social<\/a> on Tuesday to claim that Paul has been benefiting from what he dubs the \u201cMassie Massacre,\u201d after Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Kentucky. The president has publicly expressed his displeasure with both lawmakers, who maintain a more libertarian stance on issues like the Iran War, tariffs and other policies.<\/p>\n

\u201cTHE MASSIE MASSACRE in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky has had a really great impact on Senator Rand Paul who will be running in two years. He\u2019s been terrific, lately!\u201d Trump posted.<\/p>\n

This is a far cry from previous comments he has made about the senator, including a June 2025 claim that the people of Kentucky \u201ccan\u2019t stand him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two have butted heads a number of times. BizPac Review<\/a> previously reported in November 2025 that Paul distanced himself from Trump and condemned the president\u2019s rhetoric about Democratic lawmakers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs the President holding himself to the same standard that he is asking of others when it comes to dialing back dangerous rhetoric?\u201d CBS\u2019s\u00a0Face the Nation <\/em>host Margaret Brennan asked the senator.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, everybody knows that the President is famous for his unfiltered social media. But if you take it face value, the idea that calling your opponents traitors \u2014 and then specifically saying that it warrants the death penalty \u2014 is reckless, inappropriate, irresponsible. There are a number of other ways to describe it. But it\u2019s not something that is helping the country heal wounds. I think it stirs things up,\u201d Paul said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAre we at the point here where it\u2019s not just unfiltered social media posts, but truly dangerous rhetoric?\u201d Brennan grilled.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, you know, I\u2019ve been on the receiving side of this. Even my father, who\u2019s been retired for some time, has been on the receiving end of swatting. Police are called, says there\u2019s an emergency in the home, and the goal is to, you know, have someone draw a gun and be killed as the police come in, supposedly to rescue someone who\u2019s not really in need of being rescued. So, I think both sides have been doing this. And I think the language on treason and traitors, both to Republicans and Democrats, is, as I said, reckless, inappropriate, irresponsible,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen if Trump\u2019s favorable impression of Paul will continue, or if the senator\u2019s criticism over the Iran War will result in more attacks.<\/p>\n
