The New York mayor\u2019s plans for government-run grocery stores could be derailed before the first one ever opens, as an immigrant-led coalition formed in opposition threatened legal action.<\/p>\n

Protests against New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) have been ramping up of late, with groups taking stands over his alleged incitement of antisemitic violence and calls for him to be barred from the upcoming 25th Anniversary September 11 memorial due to his Islamist ties.<\/p>\n

Opposition also includes the threat of a lawsuit as the Multicultural Business Coalition responded to the announcement about subsidized stores selling groceries 30% below retail<\/a>, voting in favor of plans to combat the utilization of taxpayer money to create unfair competition.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the New York Post, MBC chair Frank Garcia expressed<\/a>, \u201cThe mayor doesn\u2019t seem to want to sit down with us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Representing the group consisting of 50 chambers of commerce representing different ethnic groups that united in response to Mamdani\u2019s plans, he further contended Mamdani \u201cwon\u2019t be able to bully these lawyers we are going to bring in.\u201d<\/p>\n

In advance of actually filing suit, the organization indicated its intent to send a letter to City Hall warning as much amid efforts to raise $1 million toward the potential legal fight. According to Garcia, a number of prominent figures have offered to help with finances, including conservative think tanks and politicians.<\/p>\n

Of course, it isn\u2019t hard to imagine there being a considerable number of New York property owners with deep pockets willing to support a fight against Mamdani\u2019s Marxist plans in the wake of his administration being accused of doxxing the owners of pieds-\u00e0-terre in his quest to squeeze the wealthy for \u201ctheir fair share.\u201d<\/p>\n
