Attorney Ben Crump has vowed \u201cno peace\u201d in Wisconsin over the officer-involved shooting death of an ex-con.<\/p>\n

It started when Corey Ruiz was confronted by police, who tried to arrest the man on suspicion of breaking into vehicles near Madison, Wisconsin. Police Chief John Patterson claims that he physically resisted even after being tased, and then pulled a knife and injured an officer. Ruiz, an ex-con who was reportedly homeless<\/a> with a history of drug abuse and criminal behavior, was shot as three officers struggled to detain him.<\/p>\n

Now, the dead man\u2019s family joined Crump for a press conference where he confirmed that he believes the officers involved should be charged.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way he shot him repeatedly? Yes,\u201d the attorney, who has represented the families of George Floyd and Michael Brown, said. He added that \u201cthere will be no peace and business as usual in Madison, Wisconsin,\u201d until the authorities are held to account for the shooting death.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the racist police background,\u201d one supporter shouted from the crowd.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a homicide investigation is currently underway by state investigators, and Crump is claiming that video of the incident doesn\u2019t prove that Ruiz harmed any officer with a knife, or even had one in the first place.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking hard to see where this alleged \u2018cut\u2019 happened,\u201d he said during the conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t see no officers cut!\u201d someone in the audience yelled.<\/p>\n
