New York City Mayor Zohan Mamdani is quick to denounce claims that he is a full-fledged communist, but the third-world import sure has a fixation on personal property.<\/p>\n

One thing is certain, the congenial Democrat relishes in the idea of scaring people, as seen in a recent appearance on Jon Stewart\u2019s podcast, responding to the notion that he\u2019s both a socialist and a Muslim to laughingly say, \u201cIf you scare them, scare them twice!\u201d<\/p>\n

As for those who own property, Mamdani issued a warning on X about a \u201cnew\u201d tax to close budget gaps that\u2019s aimed at those who own a second home.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have a second home in New York City worth more than $5M, check your mailbox when you\u2019re back in the five boroughs \u2014 because you\u2019ve got mail,\u201d the mayor wrote. \u201cToday, we sent notification letters to property owners, letting them know that our new pied-\u00e0-terre tax is coming soon. The best city in the world deserves the best parks, libraries, and schools in the world. That\u2019s only possible when we all pay our fair share.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having promised a lot of free things while running for office, the Uganda-born mayor who maintains dual citizenship learned quickly that someone has to pay for \u201cfree\u201d and he set his sights on the more affluent, resulting in a dramatic exodus of millionaires from the city \u2014 according to a bombshell study just released by the Citizen Budget Commission, the Big Apple saw a nearly $11 billion loss in much-needed tax revenue in just one year.<\/p>\n

And Mamdani\u2019s answer is to squeeze those who remain behind even more. The lesson here being that the Democrat is just getting started on raising taxes \u2014 a lesson voters may take to the polls with them next time around.<\/p>\n
