{"id":640455,"date":"2026-07-24T01:20:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T01:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=640455"},"modified":"2026-07-24T01:20:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T01:20:00","slug":"india-targets-five-small-modular-reactors-by-2033-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=640455","title":{"rendered":"India Targets Five Small Modular Reactors By 2033"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">India Targets Five Small Modular Reactors By 2033<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>India expects to build domestically five small modular reactors (SMRs) by 2033, India\u2019s Atomic Energy Minister, Jitendra Singh, said.\u00a0<strong>The five SMRs would be part of India\u2019s push to accelerate nuclear power capacity installations over the next two decades, <\/strong>the minister told lawmakers in a written reply to questions as carried by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/india-to-make-five-small-nuclear-power-reactors-operational-by-2033\/\">local media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), India\u2019s premier nuclear research facility under the Department of Atomic Energy, is currently developing a 220-MW Bharat Small Modular Reactor, a 55-MW reactor, and a high-temperature gas-cooled reactor designed to produce hydrogen, Singh said quoted by <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/India-Targets-Five-Small-Modular-Reactors-by-2033.html\">OilPrice.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/indian%20nukes.jpg?itok=k2IMgqII\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/indian%20nukes.jpg?itok=k2IMgqII\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"f5445b05-b24e-4e3d-b243-7290cf17b396\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"209\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/indian%20nukes.jpg?itok=k2IMgqII\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As per India\u2019s nuclear energy roadmap, <strong>the country aims to boost its installed nuclear power capacity from 8.78 gigawatts (GW) now to about 22 GW by the 2031-32 fiscal year, the minister said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>India goal is to boost its installed nuclear power capacity to 100 GW by 2047, up from just 8.8 GW now.
