Prior to the vote, far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called on her colleagues to reject it, calling the bill \u201can existential threat to American sovereignty\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Tomorrow, the House will vote on the NDAA, which includes a provision to merge parts of our military with the IDF.<\/p>\n<p>This amendment is an existential threat to American sovereignty and democracy.<\/p>\n<p>Every member of Congress must vote NO.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lawler4ny\/status\/2079953859301068820\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fired back<\/a>, accusing her of lying or being \u201cobtuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood grief, you are either obtuse or intentionally lying,\u201d he wrote in a tweet. \u201cWe are not merging our military with the IDF. As we do with many of our allies, we enter into cooperative agreements, share intelligence, develop technology and ammunitions, and conduct military exercises together. Stop stoking Jew hatred and do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez was joined in her opposition by \u201cRepublicans\u201d like Rep. Thomas Massie, who is among those who\u2019ve falsely claimed that the bill would \u201cmerge our military tech and supply chain with Israel\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f6a8.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udea8\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/>This week\u2019s RULE will NOT allow a vote on my amendment to strip section 219 from the NDAA.<\/p>\n<p>We should not merge our military tech &amp; supply chain with Israel\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>I will vote AGAINST the RULE that allows the NDAA to come to the floor and AGAINST the NDAA.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wqP4WItDyS\">https:\/\/t.co\/wqP4WItDyS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Thomas Massie (@RepThomasMassie) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepThomasMassie\/status\/2079371905920839704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 21, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The theory is so out there that even far-right agitator Nicholas J. Fuentes, a known anti-Semite, has dismissed it as nonsense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho invented this idea that we are merging our militaries?\u201d he said on a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/whitesocksclips\/status\/2080172007464071562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent episode<\/a> of his show. \u201cListen, I don\u2019t support this [bill] at all. It\u2019s awful. It\u2019s very bad. But we\u2019re not merging our military with Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know who started saying that and how that caught on. It says that we will cooperate on technology development. That\u2019s basically what it says. And there\u2019s intelligence sharing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Fuentes went on to call the merger theory \u201cthe f\u2013king stupidest thing I\u2019ve heard this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday\u2019s vote came a week after nearly half of House Democrats voted in favor of a radical measure calling for all military aid to Israel to be cut off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the first time, at least in modern memory, a major political party has seen the majority of its party vote to cut military aid, all of it, to Israel,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/show\/vote-on-u-s-aid-to-israel-exposes-sharp-divide-in-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PBS<\/a>\u2018 Lisa Desjardins reported with shock on July 16.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis happened yesterday in a vote in the House; 103 Democrats voted to strip all of the military funding to Israel \u2014 that\u2019s about $3.3 billion \u2014 out of the bill.
