The development seemed to brush another potential candidate off the plate, but another one joined the field on Monday. Possibly seeing Trump&#8217;s endorsement as too ridiculous to be fully intimidating, others may join a field that officially has five candidates.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">Hard pass. Birthright senatorship is idiotic. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/RRQbCrNEDl\">https:\/\/t.co\/RRQbCrNEDl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Sean Davis (@seanmdav) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/seanmdav\/status\/2079288865118879841?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 20, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Graham&#8217;s sister made the announcement on Sean Hannity&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/sen-darline-graham-reveals-whether-she-run-full-term-during-hannity-exclusive\"><em>Fox News<\/em><\/a> show on Monday night, but a clip of her declaring that she&#8217;d run was posted earlier that afternoon, perhaps with the intent to discourage other candidates from filing when the window officially opens today; it closes on Tuesday the 28th:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201c<strong>I\u2019ve made a decision. I\u2019m in&#8230;<\/strong>\u00a0I can\u2019t see it any other way. I just don\u2019t. I\u2019ve thought, and I\u2019ve prayed, and he\u2019s worked so hard for so long. I just, I can\u2019t just let that die. <strong>I\u2019ve got to step in and carry on his legacy.<\/strong> I know he cared about the people of South Carolina so deeply. He worked so hard for them, and I feel like I can do that, too.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To be clear, <strong>Lindsey<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Graham&#8217;s &#8220;legacy&#8221; centers on relentless advocacy for bloody, expensive and often counterproductive regime-change interventions <\/strong>around the globe, to include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/policy\/lindsey-graham-trump-iran-fa5f54f0\">collaborating with Israeli Prime Minister<\/a> Benjamin Netanyahu to persuade Trump to launch a war on Iran on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.starkrealities.net\/p\/join-us-military-kill-die-for-israel\">false premises<\/a>, and fostering the ouster of Ukraine&#8217;s democratically-elected president before then leading the charge to pour billions of dollars of weapons into an economy-damaging proxy war against Russia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">I cannot begin to fathom having no political involvement, tragically losing my brother or sister, and then a week later launching a political campaign saying I deserve their seat.<\/p>\n<p>The elites don\u2019t care about representing us. When South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster appointed her to be a placeholder for the remainder of her brother&#8217;s term that ends in January &#8212; and in the days since &#8212; she was universally referred to as Darline Nordone or Darline Graham Nordone. With her announcement, <strong>she&#8217;s suddenly &#8220;Darline Graham,&#8221; even though she remains married to Larry Nordone<\/strong>, about whom very little is publicly known.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Darline Graham relabeling is obviously meant to capitalize on name recognition, which, aside from the Trump endorsement, is her only political asset.\u00a0<strong>She has never held an elected office<\/strong>. She&#8217;s commissioner of the South Carolina Commission for the Blind, and previously held a communications role in the\u00a0South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department.\u00a0\u00a0Ever the Trump today, <strong>Hannity tried using Monday&#8217;s softball interview to polish Darline Graham&#8217;s thin resume.<\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/atrupar\/status\/2079379184523079834?s=20\">You&#8217;ve had your own life and success<\/a>,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You have been the commissioner of South Carolina&#8217;s commission for the blind. You&#8217;ve held this position since 2019. It&#8217;s a 130 person agency, $90 million budget you ran, 10 offices across South Carolina &#8230; <strong>you&#8217;ve got a lot of experience.&#8221;<\/strong> \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/darline%20graham.jpg?itok=LMbbL41L\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/darline%20graham.jpg?itok=LMbbL41L\"><\/a><\/p>\n<figure role=\"group\" class=\"caption caption-img inline-images image-style-inline-images\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"a2f2b8b3-73db-40b3-acad-929c8a6c4a67\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"299\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/darline%20graham.jpg?itok=LMbbL41L\" width=\"500\" \/><figcaption><strong>Darline Graham, who seemingly buys her ladies&#8217; US-flag brooches at the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/infolibnews\/status\/2068486575978144043?s=20\">same place as Mark Levin<\/a>, called herself Darline Nordone up until Monday<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>At least one potential opponent seemed to find Trump&#8217;s endorsement sufficiently threatening: Rep. Nancy Mace, who&#8217;s poised to hand over her House seat in January after having foregone reelection for a failed bid for governor, had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NancyMace\/status\/2076301493284618708?s=20\">teased at a run<\/a>\u00a0on social media within hours of Lindsey Graham&#8217;s death. On Monday, however,<strong> Mace announced she will not enter the GOP special primary election<\/strong> that will take place on Aug. 11, with a potential run-off of the top two finishers on Aug 25.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m not running for the U.S. Senate, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/c-IH6ydFeY4?si=FM7k5wCKgq2ZdRzX\">not because I\u2019m backing down from a fight<\/a>, but because the one I\u2019m already in matters right now,\u201d she said, referring to her work on laws to protect women and girls who are victims of sexual misconduct.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Undaunted, <strong>Congressman Russell Fry jumped into the race<\/strong> on Monday. Fry was reportedly hand-picked by Trump to unseat Republican Tom Rice in 2022, as payback for Rice&#8217;s vote to impeach Trump over the Jan 6, 2021 Capitol Hill riot. He won and is considered close to the Trump team.\u00a0\u201cThere is no other way to put it:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/07\/20\/fry-jumps-into-south-carolina-senate-race-01004805\">Lindsey Graham\u00a0was one of a kind<\/a>. There is no replacing him. But I believe the best way to honor his legacy is to fight alongside the President just as steadfastly as he did,\u201d Fry said in a statement. Hedging his bets, Fry will also continue pursuing reelection to the House.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">South Carolina &#8211; meet your new Lisa Murkowski!<\/p>\n<p>She will be the Senator that represents your grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>And you had no say in it at all. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/AfmCebOhlX\">https:\/\/t.co\/AfmCebOhlX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan Bostic (@danbostic) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/danbostic\/status\/2079321222123319752?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 20, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><s>Nordone<\/s> Graham and Fry join a field that includes\u00a0<strong>businessman Mark Lynch<\/strong>, who was trounced by Lindsey Graham in the June GOP primary; <strong>Duke Buckner, a lawyer<\/strong> who has previously run for the state&#8217;s heavily-Democratic 6th Congressional District seat; and <strong>US<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Rep. Ralph Norman. <\/strong>At 73 years old, Norman&#8217;s age might be a liability, but he&#8217;s picked up endorsements from Florida Sen. Rick Scott, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, Turning Point Action and Nancy Mace.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The winner will go up against Democrat pediatrician Annie Andrews, who previously failed to unseat Mace, and who has founded a <a href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2023\/04\/17\/pediatrician-launches-new-pac-focused-on-children\/\">PAC<\/a> focusing on issues like climate change, gun control and voting rights. Before Lindsey Graham suddenly died on July 11 from an aortic dissection, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/senate-race-ratings\">Cook Political Report rated the South Carolina seat &#8220;Solid R.<\/a>&#8221; That&#8217;s unlikely to change no matter who wins the Aug 11 GOP primary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The big question is whether Trump&#8217;s endorsement and outside spending in a very short race can overcome Darline Graham&#8217;s lack of credentials<\/strong> &#8212; and perhaps some reluctance among South Carolina Republicans to see their Senate seat treated like inheritable property. So far <strong>there&#8217;s no indication there will be a debate<\/strong> <strong>among the candidates<\/strong>.
