It is absolutely devastating and horrific. For four years, the Biden Administration left our border wide open while Don Davis stood by. He even voted AGAINST $305 billion in border security funding that would have provided more Border Patrol agents, ICE officers, and other resources to help secure our border,” she wrote. “Now, a little girl is gone because Democrats refused to put Americans first and keep our communities safe. As your Congresswoman, I’ll fight like heck to secure our border and do everything I can to keep the people of Eastern North Carolina safe. Don Davis of Snow Hill said that Corona’s driver’s license was suspended at the time that he allegedly crashed into the family of three. The young girl’s mother and sister miraculously survived, but now have to live with the devastation reportedly caused by a man who had been deported in 2019, 2023 and 2024 before re-entering the United States illegally. DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis also revealed that Corona has prior DUI charges.

Authorities who arrested the suspect confirmed that they will be working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), but Buckhout wants to take a more proactive approach to protecting her community.

“We need to support them more,” she said of federal agents working to secure the southern border. “More technology, more access roads going down to the border so that they can access the border safely.
