The Democrats have a new Republican ally in their fight to take down FBI Director Kash Patel.<\/p>\n

The GOP Senate Judiciary Chairman, Chuck Grassley, requested more information regarding Patel\u2019s flights and his department\u2019s purchases of BMW\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor each trip where you used an FBI aircraft for personal travel, have you reimbursed the FBI as required by law? If yes, please provide the records,\u201d Grassley wrote in his letter.<\/p>\n

Grassley called it an \u201cindependent and objective\u201d review and questioned why BMWs were purchased and not \u201cChevy Suburbans.\u201d<\/p>\n

FBI spokesperson Ben Williamson defended the purchases in December, \u201cGovernment agencies, including the FBI, routinely evaluate, replace and update vehicle fleets based on usage, security needs or budgetary decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patel is also being scrutinized for travel expenses, including an alleged \u201cexclusive excursion\u201d snorkel trip at a Pearl Harbor memorial in Hawaii.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour VIP snorkeling experience in Hawaii was not an isolated incident,\u201d Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) wrote in a letter. \u201cYou frequently demand special perks on \u2018official\u2019 trips around the globe, such as a taxpayer-funded helicopter tour during your multi-country jaunt across East Asia and other recreational activities like jet skiing.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to one of the lawmaker\u2019s \u201csources\u201d, Patel had told inside personnel, \u201cIf you have golf, hockey, fishing, or hunting and beautiful sights, you\u2019re going to see a lot of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not the conduct of a committed and faithful public servant, especially one entrusted with ensuring the safety of almost 350 million Americans,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n
