After beating the U.S. 4-1, knocking them out and sending them to the stands to watch the rest of the World Cup, Belgium couldn\u2019t resist taking a topical jab at the losers. The Belgian Red Devils took to X with a photo of star Romelu Lukaku with the simple caption \u201cOverturn this.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is a reference to FIFA\u2019s decision to overturn the red card suspension issued to Team USA star Folarin Balogun, which Belgium strongly opposed.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo date, the RBFA has still not received any grounds for this decision, nor has it received the information it has been requesting since the start of this procedure for a copy of this decision and the motivation declaring the player eligible as well as the referee\u2019s report, which is a breach of FIFA regulations,\u201d reads a statement from the Royal Belgian Football Association. \u201cThe RBFA has informed the United States Soccer Federation that it contests the eligibility of the player, should the player be listed on the referee\u2019s team sheet. This leaves all further actions open.\u201d<\/p>\n

It turns out the Belgian team was more than capable of taking matters into their own hands, and they are moving on to face Spain in the quarterfinals.<\/p>\n
