Ukrainian President Zelenskiy has presided over the destruction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in favor of a new state-sponsored church, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine…CCP style. Zelenskiy is supporting a state-controlled religion, just as communists have done throughout history.<\/p>\n

Orthodox priests continue to be beaten, churches stolen, closed, burned across the country. <\/p>\n

Yet incredulously, recently after the fire at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra<\/a>, Zelenskiy tried to take credit for saving Christianity in Ukraine. He’s lying.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Kyiv Pechersk Lavra<\/a> (also known as the\u00a0Kyiv Monastery of the Caves) is the oldest and most significant monastic complex in\u00a0Ukraine, founded in\u00a01051\u00a0by Saint Anthony of Kyiv.\u00a0Located in the\u00a0Pechersk\u00a0district of\u00a0Kyiv, it is a premier center of\u00a0Eastern Orthodox\u00a0Christianity and a\u00a0UNESCO World Heritage Site\u00a0designated in 1990.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Zelensky preached recently at the site of the damage, “The wounded churches of Ukraine\u2014attacked by evil, scarred by Russian bullets, shattered by guided bombs and missiles.<\/p>\n

“Great cathedrals in our largest cities, and small churches in our villages. Churches, mosques, synagogues\u2014740 religious sites across Ukraine have been struck by Putin.<\/p>\n

“That is who we are fighting. That is what our enemy is.”<\/p>\n

It is unclear whose projectile started the fire. The Russian government would have no benefit to destroying a church that Zelenskiy has shut down, unless the Ukrainians were storing military gear there. Zelenskiy famously raided the tombs<\/a> of the relics below the structure and looted the site with his police last year. It is likely a Ukrainian air defense system downed a drone and debris fell to the ground and started the fire.<\/p>\n

Zelensky’s powerful message: “The Lavra stands. Saint Sophia stands. That means Kyiv stands. Ukraine stands \u2014 and it will endure.”<\/p>\n

Zelenskiy controlled priest Father Valentyn Horokhovskyi said,” Every day I witness the grief and suffering that Russia has brought through its war. While speaking about “Holy Rus” and the defense of Orthodoxy, the enemy destroys churches and kills people.\u00a0I see it with my own eyes. I live among these ruins in Kherson.”<\/p>\n

Zelensky added, “Thirty years ago, Ukrainians stopped living under the old\u2014and above all, someone else’s\u2014law. They began building a new life, their own life, on new foundations and new principles. The foremost of those principles is Ukraine’s right to be itself: sovereign, indivisible, and independent.\u00a0These are the fundamental principles of our Constitution.”<\/p>\n

Don’t let Zelenskiy and his thugs get away with it. This is not Christianity. This is dictatorship.<\/p>\n
