Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin testified on his agency\u2019s operations before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, and things got heated when a Democrat rolled out the party\u2019s fallback talking points about children being separated at the border \u2014 an issue the party only seems to care about when there is a Republican in the White House.<\/p>\n

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) claimed 3,900 kids were separated from their families, the figure coming from a 2021 report from the federal Family Reunification Task Force, but Mullins had little patience for stale talking points from a fumbling 83-year-old lawmaker with purple hair.<\/p>\n

Mullin interrupted to expose the lawmaker\u2019s hypocrisy, saying, \u201c450,000 kids were lost under the Biden administration, and you didn\u2019t say a word about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Secretary, Mr. Secretary, do not interrupt,\u201d the flustered Democratic lawmaker replied, jabbing her finger in his direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t you point your finger at me,\u201d Mullin fired back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will point my finger at you,\u201d DeLauro answered.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be a hypocrite. You should be as upset about the 450,000 kids that were lost [under Biden],\u201d Mullin pressed, before adding, \u201cYou didn\u2019t say a word about it. For four years, you never said a word.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thoroughly outclassed, DeLauro appealed to Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), the subcommittee chair, to put Mullins \u201cin his place.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should be put in your place,\u201d the secretary shot back.<\/p>\n

After Amodei called for order, Mullin said, \u201cI will not sit here and listen to her lie and accuse something this ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

When DeLauro said, \u201cDo not accuse me of lying, do not,\u201d Mullin retorted,\u00a0\u201cThen don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n
