Dan Goldman (D-NY) and Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), leaving Jeffries with egg on his face and a target on his back.<\/p>\n<p>During his appearance on CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk Box\u201d on Thursday, the top House Democrat was asked about the primary elections and the radicalism of Chevalier, an anti-Israel activist who wants to abolish ICE and prisons and has trashed the USA as a\u00a0 \u201cf**king disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">CNBC\u2019s Joe Kernen: \u201c[Democratic Socialist] were saying, you\u2019re next [to be primaried] about Hakeem Jeffries, you\u2019re next, you\u2019re next. You can\u2019t think this is a positive development in New York politics, can you? Dems will be Dems or something like that. I don\u2019t see how you can\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jj2cVukDNm\">pic.twitter.com\/jj2cVukDNm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RedWave Press (@RedWavePress) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RedWavePress\/status\/2070163632042672203?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 25, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHer views are clearly not my views, and that should be obvious to everyone in terms of what brings Democrats together,\u201d Jeffries said of Chevalier, remarks unlikely to endear him to the rabidly socialist base.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen, we believe that we\u2019ve got to drive down the high cost of living. We\u2019ve got to solve this affordability crisis. It\u2019s not a hoax. There are far too many people in this country who are working hard,\u201d Jeffries continued. \u201cThey\u2019re playing by the rules, and they can\u2019t thrive. In fact, they can barely survive. That\u2019s not acceptable in the wealthiest country in the history of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries then shifted the subject to President Donald J. Trump, which the Democratic leadership always does as a smokescreen to distract from their lack of legitimate policy solutions that would benefit ordinary Americans.<\/p>\n<p>But host Joe Kernen wasn\u2019t having it, calling out Jeffries for not staying on topic and asking him about the \u201cyou\u2019re next\u201d chants after the socialists\u2019 big night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all agree with what you just said, but it totally shifted from what we\u2019re talking about is whether the Democratic Party includes someone in that tent that believes these things,\u201d the host said. \u201cI don\u2019t think any of those things are going to solve what you just talked about or answer to any of our problems that you delineate so eloquently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were saying, \u2018you\u2019re next\u2019 about Hakeem Jeffries. \u2018You\u2019re next, you\u2019re next, you\u2019re next.\u2019 You can\u2019t think this is a positive development in New York politics, can you?\u201d Kernen asked. \u201cAnd, oh, they\u2019ll just, you know, \u2018Dems will be Dems\u2019 or something like that. I don\u2019t see how you can say that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDollar Store Obama\u201d again ducked and weaved, trying to make it all about the president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, I\u2019ve clearly rejected those things. That\u2019s number one. Number two, my record speaks for itself. This is not a \u2018Dems will be Dems\u2019 situation. Donald Trump is the President of the United States of America right now. Are you kidding me?\u201d Jeffries said, insisting that his top priority is \u201cending this national nightmare\u201d of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is, primaries do happen. There are 435 members of the House of Representatives. And am I going to agree with every single member on the Democratic or Republican side on every issue?
