{"id":625192,"date":"2026-06-25T21:40:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T21:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=625192"},"modified":"2026-06-25T21:40:00","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T21:40:00","slug":"adani-targets-10-gw-nuclear-power-capacity-in-india-by-2035-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buglecall.org\/?p=625192","title":{"rendered":"Adani Targets 10 GW Nuclear Power Capacity In India By 2035"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden\">Adani Targets 10 GW Nuclear Power Capacity In India By 2035<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-body field--type-text-with-summary field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p><em>By Tsvetana Paraskova of <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Adani-Targets-10-GW-Nuclear-Power-Capacity-in-India-by-2035.html\">OilPrice.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Adani Group, the conglomerate of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, could become India\u2019s biggest private nuclear power capacity developer within a decade, targeting 10 gigawatts (GW) by 2035, as India opened its civil nuclear power sector to private investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur entry into nuclear energy through Adani Atomic Energy is another confident step towards securing India&#8217;s long-term energy future,\u201d Gautam Adani <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/india-news\/read-full-text-of-gautam-adanis-speech-at-adani-agm-2026-11679537\">said<\/a> at the annual general meeting of Adani Group on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/adani_0.jpg?itok=vV8aUedh\" data-link-option=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/adani_0.jpg?itok=vV8aUedh\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"7edfd973-1b48-4e7a-a7ac-cbf016a0160d\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" height=\"281\" width=\"500\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/adani_0.jpg?itok=vV8aUedh\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith land identified and a 10 GW targeted capacity by 2035, we are positioning ourselves early to serve the growing national demand for clean, round-the-clock power,\u201d the billionaire said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A panel set up by India\u2019s power ministry has said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/cea.nic.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/notification\/2025\/10\/Roadmap_Final_30062025.pdf\">report<\/a> that India\u2019s goal to boost its installed nuclear power capacity to 100 gigawatts by 2047, up from just 8.8 GW now, would require as much as 19.28 trillion Indian rupees, or $204 billion at current exchange rates, of cumulative capital.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Indian government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2205124&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=2\">has said<\/a> that its Nuclear Energy Mission targets 100 GW capacity by 2047 \u201cthrough deployment of existing and emerging advanced nuclear technologies, both indigenous &amp; with foreign cooperation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adani Group is reportedly in talks with the state government of India\u2019s northern Uttar Pradesh state on a <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Latest-Energy-News\/World-News\/Adani-Explores-Nuclear-Power-Foray-With-16-GW-Small-Reactor-Project.html\">public-private partnership<\/a> to build small modular reactors (SMRs) as India opens its nuclear energy sector to private investment.<\/p>\n<p>Adani is in discussions with Uttar Pradesh officials to build eight SMRs with capacity of 200 megawatts (MW) each at yet-to-be-identified sites in the state, anonymous sources with knowledge of the matter told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-12-19\/adani-plans-nuclear-energy-foray-as-india-allows-private-firms?srnd=phx-industries-energy\">Bloomberg<\/a> at the end of 2025.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If the group meets its target to have 10 GW in nuclear capacity by 2035, it would become India\u2019s third-largest operator of nuclear power capacity behind state-run Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and state coal giant NTPC Limited.
