Tim Kaine\u2019s war powers resolution from moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>The president celebrated the vote with a post to Truth Social in which he noted that Republican Sens. Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy had switched sides:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Wow! The Senate just changed its vote on Iran from 50-48 against, to 50-47 for. Trump Truth Social Posts On X (@TrumpTruthOnX) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TrumpTruthOnX\/status\/2069982895587131869?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 25, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.com\/Politics\/reversal-senate-votes-block-war-powers-resolution-delivering\/story?id=134193814\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC News<\/a>, the resolution, \u201cwhich aims to limit Trump\u2019s ability to wage war in Iran but does not have the force of law, had narrowly advanced in a previous procedural vote\u201d hours earlier, triggering Trump\u2019s temper.<\/p>\n<p>The president then invited Senate Republicans to a closed-door meeting that turned contentious when Sen. Cassidy objected to Trump\u2019s complaints.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[A]s they stood face to face in a Wednesday meeting at the Capitol, the two Republicans unleashed anger at each other in a shouting match in front of dozens of their Senate GOP colleagues,\u201d as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/06\/24\/politics\/trump-cassidy-senate-republicans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cassidy, the exchange began when the president demanded to know why several senators, including him, had voted in favor of the war powers resolution during the prior procedural vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stood and said, \u2018You have not told the American people what\u2019s going on,&#8217;\u201d Cassidy later recalled. \u201cIt [the Iran War] was supposed to last four weeks; it\u2019s lasted four months. Our original objectives have not been achieved, and I want to know what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump subsequently \u201clost his temper,\u201d according to the senator, at one point even ordering Cassidy to sit down. When the senator reportedly refused, the president called him a \u201clunatic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cassidy later accused the president of trying to bully him:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">President Trump\u2019s meeting with GOP senators on Wednesday turned testy, and at one point, he told Sen.
