The father of slain high schooler Austin Metcalf decried those trying to \u201cmonetize the death,\u201d including a co-host of \u201cThe View\u201d on how she \u201cwants to spew her public opinion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 people believe that \u2026 they scream loud enough, they\u2019re right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the conviction and sentencing of Karmelo Anthony for the April 2025 murder of Metcalf, Collin County District Judge John Roach transparently released trial exhibits that included crime scene photographs and remorseless<\/a> bodycam footage.<\/p>\n

While the likes of Sunny Hostin remained incredulous that self-defense was disregarded and held fast to the belief that race factored into the 35-year prison sentence, a platform to counter \u201cmisinformation\u201d found the victim\u2019s father, Jeff Metcalf, decrying the \u201cmoral decay of society.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople had their own opinions without even seeing the facts, and that\u2019s the part I have trouble with,\u201d Metcalf told Fox News host Will Cain during an appearance on \u201cThe Will Cain Show\u201d Monday. \u201cUnfortunately, in today\u2019s moral decay of society that we\u2019ve witnessed, people believe that if they have their own voice, they scream loud enough, they\u2019re right.\u201d<\/p>\n

While he spared Metcalf from having to suffer through a clip of Hostin and the rest of ABC\u2019s daily coffee klatch, her opinion was raised at the onset of the discussion.<\/p>\n

In a matter of seconds, the co-host managed to accrue a series of community notes pertaining to the case while she errantly claimed Anthony to be smaller than he actually is, at the same time lamenting the lack of black jurors. Arguing that would be a factor in a likely appeal from the convicted murderer, Hostin was adamant that self-defense should have been at play.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey don\u2019t know me. They don\u2019t know Hunter, Austin. They don\u2019t know Karmelo. They\u2019re looking for their 15 minutes of fame or their clickbait,\u201d Metcalf told Cain generally regarding those speaking out.\u00a0\u201cThey\u2019re looking to monetize the death of my son. I really wish they wouldn\u2019t speak about it at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Hostin, he said she \u201chas no idea about the facts of the case, but she wants to spew her public opinion on a platform that reaches millions of people every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is completely wrong, and if they want to take me in, call me, ask me to be on \u2018The View\u2019 with them, I would gladly. Fly me up there and let me talk to all of you,\u201d he went on.<\/p>\n

In addition to addressing how proud he is of Austin\u2019s twin brother, Hunter, and the statement he delivered during the trial, along with praising the community for rallying around his family, Metcalf recounted how he had attempted to \u201ckind of close the gap\u201d with Anthony\u2019s family, only to be kicked out of their press conference when he\u2019d shown up to pray with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was hoping for some accountability, maybe and some remorse,\u201d he said, \u201cand neither one was shown.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t care what color you are, I want to judge you by how you treat people, what\u2019s your character like,\u201d said Metcalf, where it concerned those insisting race impacted the trial. \u201cYour color makes no difference. It doesn\u2019t determine your IQ. It doesn\u2019t determine your faith. It doesn\u2019t determine how much money you have. But your character shows who you are truly, and that\u2019s how I judge people.\u201d<\/p>\n
