He described Trump’s comments as reflecting frustration with the ongoing conflict and a search for alternative solutions, adding that Syria’s role would be “a purely positive one, defined by Lebanese and Syrian interests.”

Al-Sharaa framed Syria’s potential involvement in Lebanon in explicitly non-military terms, proposing deeper economic ties as a “third option” for the country, which has long been trapped between cycles of civil strife and Israeli military operations, reported Clash Report.

“Why is Lebanon always forced to choose between civil war and an Israeli war? Why can there not be a third option?” he asked.

He highlighted historical geographic and economic links between the two nations: “Historically, Beirut has been the maritime gateway of Damascus, and Tripoli has been the maritime gateway of Homs.” With Syria positioning itself as a strategic regional hub connecting East and West, al-Sharaa argued that Lebanon should benefit from enhanced trade, supply chains, and logistics along the Mediterranean coast.

“We have already tried the military path and witnessed its disasters and tragedies. Let us try the economic path instead,” he said.

While acknowledging deep Syrian resentment toward Hezbollah for its role in Syria’s civil war, al-Sharaa left the door open to direct talks.

“We have a deep problem with Hezbollah, but we do not want all of Lebanon to die. We want to solve the problem of Hezbollah while keeping Lebanon alive,” he stated.

When asked if Syria would sit down with Hezbollah, he replied: “If the need arises for us to sit with Hezbollah, I believe in dialogue, yes. Even between opposing parties, dialogue should remain open and continue even during war, conflict, and confrontation, because the alternative is war.”

Al-Sharaa added that he believes Hezbollah’s decision to intervene in Syria was a mistake, one that even many within the group now recognize. He also rejected equating Hezbollah with Lebanon’s entire Shiite community, saying the Shiite population needs a broader “rescue effort” alongside the rest of Lebanon.

Regarding the recently concluded 15-week war between the United States, Israel, and Iran — which ended with a preliminary memorandum of understanding — al-Sharaa described the conflict as largely futile.

“Many wars that stumble or fail to achieve their full objectives end with both sides celebrating victory. In my view, all parties lose in futile wars,” he said. He noted that Syria had opposed the war from the outset and worked to prevent it.

On Israel’s role, al-Sharaa was concise: “Israel is part of the American decision.”

A CDM Christian source in Lebanon declared, “It is unsurprising given that he’s obviously being controlled by Turkey which is trying to stay equidistant from both the US and Israel on one hand and Iran on the other.”

“What is surprising though is president Trump’s insistence on involving Sharaa in solving Hezbollah’s problem which, if it happened via a Syrian military invasion, would give renewed legitimacy to Hezbollah from the Shiaa as well as from the other communities in Lebanon, and would probably lead to a sectarian conflict. It is a very dangerous notion that would directly impact Christian interests and their presence in Lebanon and could lead them to turn on the US which they usually overwhelmingly support.”

‘NO AD’ subscription for CDM! Sign up here and support real investigative journalism and help save the republic!

Image by Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Please Follow us on Truth Social, X , Youtube , Minds, Telegram, Rumble, GETTR, Gab, Instagram Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has clarified that his country has no intention of sending troops into Lebanon, instead calling for economic cooperation and direct dialogue — including with Hezbollah — as part of a… Continue reading Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa Responds To Calls For Another Syrian Intervention In Lebanon

[18,19,10,21,12,11,9

post-623001","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cancel-culture","category-censorship","category-civil-liberties","category-election-integrity","category-equal-justice","category-free-speech","category-religious-freedom","entry
["GET
