A majority of Americans of all stripes agree that American children need more education \u2014 a lot more, in fact \u2014 on civics and government.<\/p>\n

A new NBC News<\/a> poll of 3,000 adults sponsored by More Perfect found that 80 percent of Americans believe \u201cthe United States puts too little emphasis on civic education, or the teaching of government and democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n

A smaller 51 percent majority believes \u201cthe country\u2019s focus on civic education is much too little.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the kicker, via NBC: \u201cThis sentiment cuts across ideological and generational lines: 87% of progressives and 84% of MAGA Republicans say there is too little educational focus on civics.\u201d<\/p>\n

Incidentally, civic education is exactly what Trump administration official Stephen Miller promised last year when asked about the closing of the Department of Education:<\/p>\n

\u201cChildren will be taught to love America. Children will be taught to be patriots. Children will be taught civic values for schools that want federal taxpayer funding,\u201d Miller proudly stated in the clip above.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo as we close the Department of Education and we provide funding to states, we are going to make sure that these funds are not being used to promote communist ideology,\u201d he continued. \u201cFor any nation to be successful, it cannot teach its children to hate themselves and to hate their country.\u201d<\/p>\n

NBC News\u2019 poll follows a separate one from the American Enterprise Institute that found that Gen Z Americans aren\u2019t as dumb as originally thought.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile its results did reflect a generational divide\u2014baby boomers were much friendlier to the Founding than Gen Z\u201473 percent of the younger generation still agreed that \u2018the founders deserve respect\u2026for how they set up the United States,’\u201d according to Reason<\/a> magazine, which reviewed the poll.<\/p>\n

A whopping 74 of Gen Z respondents likewise agreed that \u201cstudying the political principles of the founding fathers can help inform our decisions today.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, these numbers come at a time when self-identified liberals appear to hate almost everything about this country.<\/p>\n

A recent CNN survey\/poll found that only 29 percent of Democrats are extremely proud to be an American, as compared to a whopping 90 percent of Republicans.<\/p>\n

The poll similarly found that only 24 percent of Democrats view celebrating America as a July 4 priority, versus 65 percent of Republicans.<\/p>\n

Also, the liberal media\u2019s behavior seems to almost contradict the polls that show Democrats care about civics and government.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Florida, a recently devised A.P. U.S. History alternative, which casts the Founding and its Enlightenment-influenced classical liberalism in a rosier light, has been characterized by the media as an \u2018anti-woke\u2019 reaction and a specifically \u2018conservative\u2019 reform,\u201d according to Reason.<\/p>\n

This is the problem. Although polls show liberals\/Democrats care about civics and government and even patriotism, their actions and rhetoric betray them.<\/p>\n

Take former President Barack Obama, who used his speech at the opening of his presidential center this week to trash the Founding Fathers:<\/p>\n
