Dr. Frita Fisher joined Joy Reid to state that \u201cpublic humiliation,\u201d such as the claim \u201cMichelle Obama is a man\u201d made at the Freedom 250 UFC fight, is part of the reason black people face higher levels of \u201ccardiovascular negative outcomes.\u201d Other causes include \u201csystemic racism\u201d and \u201cdiscrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n

We literally have data that systemic racism, chronic discrimination and also public humiliation, we have data that these things increase cardiovascular negative outcomes.\u201d Fisher said. \u201cAnd as I sat there experiencing those emotions, I know I\u2019m not alone, I realize, this is what happens. This is why so many black people, and black women specifically, have poorer cardiovascular outcomes when compared to other ethnic groups. This is why so many of us have increased strokes.
