President Donald Trump has seemingly debunked the claim that his latest deal with Iran requires forking over $300 billion to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIran has agreed to never have a Nuclear Weapon! Also, the story that the U.S. is paying Iran 300 million Dollars is Fake News, put out by the Dumocrats!!!\u201d he wrote<\/a> on Truth Social late this Monday evening.<\/p>\n

Note, however, that he wrote 300 million, not 300 billion. It\u2019s not yet clear if that was a typo.<\/p>\n

The president\u2019s dismissal of the rumor came after an unnamed U.S. official told reporters earlier Monday that the White House had discussed \u201cthe possibility\u201d of releasing all that money.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe discussed the possibility of releasing frozen funds, sanctions relief, you know, a big $300 billion fund to rebuild their country, and all of these things are going to be tied to performance,\u201d the official said, according to The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Vice President JD Vance later seemed to confirm this when asked during a CBS News interview about the $300 billion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the sort of thing they could have access to, funded by the Gulf Coast Coalition, so long as they honor their end of the obligation,\u201d\u00a0 he said.<\/p>\n

He meant the\u00a0Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n

But on the other hand, his comment contradicted what he\u2019d written on social media only days earlier:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve noticed a couple of bizarre things in the reporting over the last few hours. First, people who (rightly) said Donald Trump was a historic president a month ago now criticizing a deal based on unconfirmed media reports. Second, people who say you can\u2019t trust a word said by the IRGC who apparently believe anonymously sourced social media posts. The president is going to get us a good outcome, one way or the other,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, President Trump announced a temporary peace deal\/memorandum of understanding with Iran on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security Council later confirmed that all military operations would cease \u201cimmediately and permanently\u201d starting that evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder the agreements reached, the war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, are ended immediately and permanently,\u201d the SNSC said, according to a translation from Iran\u2019s Mehr News Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurthermore, the naval blockade against Iran is terminated immediately and completely,\u201d the statement continued, this time referencing the United States\u2019 obligations as per the new deal.<\/p>\n
